Episode #725: Leprechaun 3 (with Dead Meat's James A. Janisse & Chelsea Rebecca)

“I think Vegas is the place where you also go to bury your mistakes and make new ones…” - Chris

On this week’s episode, we welcome back our Dead Meat buds, James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca, to talk about the completely entertaining, direct-to-video horror sequel, Leprechaun 3! How amazingly does the Leprechaun fit right in, in Las Vegas? How hysterically naive is this Scott fella when playing in the casino? Why does the Big Boss at this casino have his big, fancy, Boss Suite… on the third floor? And why does it take the Leprechaun so long to kill that pawn shop owner? PLUS: Where can we get a copy of this amazing folklore encyclopedia CD-ROM?

Leprechaun 3 stars Warwick Davis, John Gatins, Lee Armstrong, John DeMita, Michael Callan, Marcelo Tubert, and Caroline Williams as Loretta; directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith.

Comments

This is the Citizen Kane of the Leprechaun franchise. I was so happy to see them finally do an episode on it. It did not disappoint either.

For whatever reason Leprechaun 4: In Space was on cable a lot when I was in college. I came home one day to find my roommate 2/3 through it. He tried to explain what he’d watched so far with no luck. So we sat and watched again later that day. Has to be one of the weirdest divergences that any film franchise has ever taken.

HockeenightsCT

Great episode! Can't wait until Lep in Space and hope we get episodes for all the Warwick Lep movies. Vegas is probably the best, but Lep in the Hood close second.

Matt Reid

Hard to pick a favourite from this episode but Eric saying "what was that massacre in Vietnam?" would be my pick.

Robert

When you got to the end of the franchise, which one wound up being your favorite? - Andrew

We Hate Movies

I’d like to think Pilleggi didn’t have a script for that Fox magician’s show and they just recorded his live reaction

RJ Cunningham

I just did a Leprechaun franchise rewatch two Halloweens ago and I have to agree that it is stupid fun.

Meghan McGehee

"Brogue: Putaaaaaaytohs" Yea I rewound that bit multiple times.

Ajax

My wife's mother just asked her last week if she could fix Grandma's old Nano which apparently was still getting daily use. So there's your untapped market, Steve.

MarkNM

(It’s a cheap movie but high recommend btw)

The only other Brian Trenchard-Smith movie I’be ever watched is in my WHM wishlist, an early 80s ozploitation flick with Olivia Hussey called TURKEY SHOOT

Felipe Sobreiro

It really endeared me to Art when he told Mitch that if he could wish for anything it would be healthcare for all Americans Also I didn’t think they did anything bad with the secret gay relationship between them, I think they were doing it as a wink and not a joke, since it’s too subtle for the people who would find that funny to get

RJ Cunningham

The line, "Heat seeking moisture missile" is 100% stolen from the Gwar song, "Death Pod".

Paul Heidtman

James and Chelsea are definitely on my Mount Rushmore of best WHM guests.

jribs

I've only ever watched the first one, but I love the Lep episodes!

Smaug

Andrew with a one-two punch with the impersonations of Pilleggi and Will Arnett

James C Harris

The Devil's Own Leprechaun

Nathan Lemire

Loretta woulda made a great Carla for Cheers on Broadway

RJ Cunningham

Patriot Games with also, Lubdan

Nathan Lemire

I just picture Steve’s Pawn Shop Guy looking up from the Nano to Steve’s eyes with disgust like “out of here, scum!”

RJ Cunningham

You guys have great energy together. I say you start a bi-annual podcast where fans of both shows can pick the movie.

Kevin Pires

Pimpin pee wee is on Tubi of course. I just watched Transylvania Twist (89) on YouTube. A comedy horror that has vampires zombies, and somehow Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Pinhead, Boris Karloff who died 30 years earlier, and Angus Grimm but they misspelled his name. It's more funny than any real scares and corny but I got a few laughs from it and it's under 90 minutes https://youtu.be/ECFLik5eYS4?si=374sKYToyEoww1-d
