The Nexus #76 - "Plato's Stepchildren" / "Allegiance"

It's our final trip into the Nexus for the year!

First up on TOS, we're chatting about the totally wild, and hilariously titled, "Plato's Stepchildren"! Originally airing November 22, 1968, this episode features Spock singing a lovely tune; Bones, Kirk and Spock being thrown around psionically by a weirdo named Parmen; and a bunch of alien folk who are obsessed with Earth's Ancient Greek culture!

Then on TNG, it's the Twilight Zone-esque episode, "Allegiance." First airing back on March 24, 1990, this episode has Patrick Stewart pulling double duty as Picard and Fake Picard, a cavalcade of gleep glops stuck in a prison cell with the Captain, and a wildly embarrassing Ten Forward sing-a-long!

PLUS: The return of Star Trek Slash Fiction readings!

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you!

As far as Kirk’s self-slapping is concerned, I believe what Andrew’s looking for is this https://youtu.be/8qSVb9bQeqM

I need, we all need, a side show in which the WHM Gang reads Trek slash/fic

Kevin Lynch

Plato's Stepchildren is so fucking good. It gets goofy, yeah, but then it veers into creepy because you start realizing this isn't being done for laughs, it's being done because it's humiliating the crew.
