The Nexus #72 - "Day of the Dove" / "Yesterday's Enterprise"

It's our monthly trip into the STAR TREK universe as we step into... The Nexus!

First up, it's a real clunker of a TOS episode with "Day of the Dove." Originally airing back on November 1, 1968, this episode features a bunch of Klingons in horrendous face makeup, Bones and Scotty being super racist toward Spock, and Chekov running around talking about a fake brother!

Then over on TNG, it's one of the best episodes in all seven seasons, "Yesterday's Enterprise"! First hitting the boob-tube back on February 17, 1990, this episode has a phenomenal performance from The Whoopster, Commander Shooter McGavin looking studly as all get-out, and a very cool return for Denise Crosby!

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you!

Best TNG Nexus episode. "Funeral canceled due to lack of interest" 🤣.

I swear there is Klingon face paint smeared on the walls in Day of the Dove

Doesn't it mean more like "asshole"? Close enough either way....

Gotta drink away the horrors of war somehow.

Yesterday's Enterprise hands down one of the all time greats. But you ever wonder why in the alternate wartime future they still have a bartender on the ship?

As good as this month's TNG episode is, I feel next month's (The Offspring)is even better (provided there isn't some special episode you've decided to do, though if y'all feel the NEED to the first episode of Strange New Worlds, I do not think anyone would complain)

TNG was such a great entry into science fiction when it aired. Concepts like this are explained well and followed through in a compelling way. Episodes like this and the series finale broke my brain as a kid.

Alexander Farr

Would make a great sample in an industrial track! 🤣

Paul Heidtman

There's a really good AV Club write up of this episode of TNG. There was, at least.
