Episode 570 - An American Werewolf in London

On this month's SPOOKTACULAR We Love Movies episode, the guys are chatting about the all-time werewolf classic, An American Werewolf in London! How great is Griffin Dunne's cheery performance as he deteriorates into a zombie puppet? Did they ever consider the red rocket situation? And how often can you say you saw a werewolf in a porno theater? PLUS: Are Eric Clapton and Van Morrison intentionally giving bad COVID advice in an attempt to collect a bunch of souls to serve them for eternity in Hell?

An American Werewolf in London stars David Naughton, Griffin Dunne, Jenny Agutter, and John Woodvine; directed by John Landis.

Griffin Dunne's cheerful performance in this movie is a direct lineage to David Tennant tapping into this type of vein for some of his roles. I can't think of one without the other now...

Lol so I’ve fully been to that Beetlehouse in LA. It was with a group of friends for a podcast taping. We did not eat anything but we were pretty buzzed and on vacation (just came in from a cruise that afternoon) and it wasn’t a bad time tbh. I did my best to avoid the Beetlejuice doing crowd work. The highlight though was when we left and right outside of the bar we had an Angelyne sighting.

Kelly Burns

Fellas, in reference to the ski movies, find “Snowboard Academy” it’s a secret Ernest movie…amazing

Mark Thompson

I totally had the Edward Burgerhands or whatever it was called which was served with a scissors stabbed through the middle of it. This was the Hollywood Beetle House and they had live comedy so that was fun.

Philip Ehlke

So the joke is the plane is too heavy and they have to throw things out to make it lighter. And the Englishman sacrifices himself saying God save the queen. Then the Texan says remember the Alamo and throws out all the Mexicans.

Ray

I’m from Yorkshire born & bread and can tell you it’s possibly the most stunning place on earth Also a young rik mayall in the bar at the beginning

Nick ibbotson

Jenny Agutter has to be one of the most beautiful actress's ever, I find it odd she's not more revered or in demand.

Brian Moreau

Thanks for the Wolf of Snow Hollow recommend, I quite enjoyed it. Really though, I'd watch anything with Robert Forster. Happy October dudes!

Hard To Gwil

If you guys want to keep the werewolf train rolling, I gotta suggest either Ginger Snaps or Full Eclipse.

Randy Billings

I would def never stalk Eric.

I was cracking up at the Max Landis as a dog part cause my dogs' name is Max! Great show!!

Paul Heidtman

Great episode, great show, and also Tully rules (although maybe only if you’re a parent who parents enough to understand the living hell that the movie correctly depicts).

John Halski

That's amazing! Hate that I missed that! -Eric

We Hate Movies

I'd pay the international flight to New York if you guys did a live show in Beetle House

Felipe Sobreiro

Thanks guys! I just started the episode while heading for a long walk during this rainy day. There's nothing better. Cheers!

Bro. Solid burns all around. Jason Reitman looks like he just made Stranger Things: The Movie but Shittier.

Jarod

Fun fact: The guy who gets killed in the tube station is the original Bib Fortuna

Robin Fry

I first watched this movie when I was about 13 or 14 (I'm 47 now), but it was only today, listening to this, that I realised about David being in a coma for three weeks therefore he would change again soon. I can't believe the detail got past me all this time. Also, "flicking my William" will definitely be entering my vernacular now...

David Roach

The BBC show Being Human covers that if you eat like a deer or whatever as a werewolf its not a pleasant morning BM. They dont show it though

Jenny Ibrahim

Saw this in a double feature with The Thing a few years back. Yeah I’d be jealous of me too

Andrew Dean

When you mentioned a Jim Cummings werewolf movie, you made me excited. But then I googled it and found out that its just some guy named Jim Cummings, not the veteran voice actor!

Matt Eldritch

I guffawed at “not even 20 minutes in…”

Erin Sale

By my count , Andrew has brought up Dog Soldiers 3 times now

Elliott Tipton

One of my top fave horror movies!

Beatrix

Eric, It is one of the best audio cues in the history of mankind when the month of October arrives!

Cody Downs

I really needed that Spooktacular theme to usher me into October

Eric Rational

Matzar
