The KoЯnkast

On this very special patrons-only presentation, the gang spends close to two hours deconstructing every single track from KoЯn's breakthrough 1998 record, Follow the Leader! Come for the chunky guitars, stay for the trips down the KoЯn Wikipedia Rabbit Hole, discussions about the gang's various relationships to Nü Metal, Andrew interrogating Chris over whether he owned a KoЯn t-shirt in high school, more chunky guitars, and even some positive things said about a few of the tracks! PLUS: Chris Cabin gets replaced by Kяis Kabin!

...fun fact: the music didn’t begin until track 13 on the original CD release, with tracks 1 through 12 each consisting of 4 seconds of nothing; a red sticker on the CD case read, “featuring 48 seconds of silence brought to you by Korn”...goddamn innovators of the hidden track, those Korns were....

Podcast Enjoyer

Totally. I bet Steve and I would jawflap about our love for Waits for hours.

luxmeansbucks

This is amazing! Would love you guys to do more album/music reviews. And since someone asked, this is definitely not an album I throw on just to listen to. I still listen to a few Korn songs when Im in a mood, but this one is too damn long.

Zach Hughes

This was amazing

Korey T

Can you guys please do an icp album

Ian Laidlaw

I'd pay to hear them do this again with another album.

Zar oelke

I would happily listen to more of you guys ripping apart Nu-metal albums anytime

Brady Otto

I’m willing to contribute 5,000 simoleons to the WHM enterprise if someone can convince Andrew Jupin to record a 4-hour We Love Albums episode on “Remain In Light” (~ 30 minutes/track).

Luke Saviello

Korn was not for me but that was a fun listen.

Ryan Tracey

This was spectacular!

Zane Magers

Jonathan Davis and Edward Furlong sound a lot alike....

Mandy Martin

I’ve never heard Korn before. I listened along. I understand the late 90’s better now 😬

Pete Sharwarko

please do chocolate starfish

Mike Sullivan

Loved the music review idea! I followed along all the way through... thank you for your service. Anyway, I know it was taxing, but that shit was great! Maybe do a few mini-sodes at the end of episodes for single tracks or put them out independently... you could knock out a review of some good Tom Waits or LCD Soundsystem... anything. I’m all in guys. And seriously... thank you for frying your brains for us.

Nick

I was one of those guys who had this album, only listened to the first three songs, and watched TRL basically every day. What an era and wow turn of the millennium pop culture for a teen was awful. I loved this episode though.

Alexander Farr

More music reviews please!

Michael Riggs

To Steve - yes I liked it. But you do not have to do it again. This sounded like it was hellish.

Paul DeCoursey-Clark

Really glad I let you guys listen to this so I didn't have to. Ouchie mama, that sounded like time you guys wish you could have back.

Alex Miraski

*Looks around nervously as Eric rants angrily about GenX.* "Uh....yeah....those guys are the worst..."

Kemper

Commentary dropping in October on a massive horror movie sequel.

We Hate Movies

"Sometimes I clean up the spit, sometimes I clean up the cum." - Engineer recording Jonathan Davis

Jeremy Montez

You guys should do a good album. Or borderline good. Like Nothings Shocking, or Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Or Ten, or Badmotorfinger. Or etc.. I'm dating myself but I'd enjoy it.

Christian Gavey

In that universe a “tall glass of water” means crystal meth

Dan sulin

I mean...if you want to listen to another song about eating corpses might I suggest "A Little Piece of Heaven " by Avenged Sevenfold..there's even a music video.

Swan Benson

I had to go find the tracks on YouTube so I could listen along to an album I pawned off around 2000 or so. It was pretty clear to me after a few listens I’d outgrown the band and/or they had run out of gas creatively. Other than the singles and the wretched Fred Durst track this record was a blur and I had only the faintest of recollections. I moved onto more bad music decisions like Slipknot after this and then just mostly abandoned any love for nu metal altogether. Listening to this makes me glad I didn’t grow up to be a hateful libertarian or a Trump supporter because that seems like the path bands like this truly set kids on. Thanks for taking one for the team, WHM.

Jim Callahan

Bowie opening up for Moby...madness! I tell you madness!

Frank Grimes

TIL that I've been mixing up Korn and Slipknot for a while. I cannot tell if this matters.

Spencer St. James

Somewhere, in an alternate universe, four skinny guys from L.A. who run the We Hate Music podcast are doing a one-off episode on The Boondock Saints.

Andrew Burt

I got quite a few hardy laughs from this. I'd like to hear another one on a better record/

mark mastrogiovanni

Proud owner of a collector's edition Korn cd. specifically the Ultra Edgy "Untitled"

regularspecial1 .

Someone please isolate the audio of Cabin singing "Bad, bad, bad, bad, boy....you make me feel so gooooood." lol

Andrew McCoy

This takes me back to being in a friend’s room, listening to the Bizkit and other nü metal tracks that we deemed to have the most curse words and violent stuff ever, thinking we were pretty damn cool. Also my jeans sagged lower than my self esteem

Andrew Bowers

Loved this...but for your health...maybe don't ever do something like this again!

Paul Gregory

It sounds like this was more suffering and pain than the Twilight commentary with the Century Club.

Matt Nelson

Great episode guys! My friend used to make me listen to Korn and the Bizkit and all of this dumb shit on the way to school all the time. He was my ride for 2 years and I got an earful of the boom chicky dicky boom Steve, we appreciate you suffering for your artform

Smaug

I personally can’t wait for WHM to change to CHM(Clowns hate Movies. Or maybe better still KHM...Klowns Hate Movies). It would be nice to be part of a community that the FBI considers a gang, The makeup would be fun and the gathering of the Hateallows every year would be fun!! :)

Dan sulin

Thanks for the episode, good laughs

Jean-Marie David

I don't think I had ever listened to the album in entirety. At first I did so to follow along (I still have the cd!), but after 4 or 5 songs I would just skim through it.

Jean-Marie David

👍. Does this count as the commentary track for this month?

Tony Arthur

Could the gang review a National album next? As someone from Ohio, I've come to really appreciate this Brooklyn-based ban, and I'm pretty sure y'all have name-dropped them recently.

Dominic Kovell

Ohh shit. There's never been a better time to utilise the private setting on Spotify 😂

Kate

Double-dipping from Reddit, please forgive - OMG, this album was a slog, and you soldiers braved it beautifully. I felt this was a wonderful dive into the nü-metal bits that have flavored the show over the years, and I have only one ask: before you inevitable shelve this format forever, please review "Significant Other". You could call it a final review of the format. The Wykeypedia even includes the wonderful quote "Durst toned down his lyrical content on this album, which he described as being more lyrically mature." so you know it has to be great for the ladies, too! Please let me strap on some JNCOs and listen to you eviscerate this album dedicated to "red hats are cool" that is 90s-ish nü-metal!

Will Skinner

Man, this was fun, but I can see how it would be grueling. I would love one on Significant Other. Just dunk on all of my high school garbage music.

Erin Hardy

Loved this!!! Great way to kick off my weekend by taking a trip down memory lane. I was never a Korn fan but loved Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Incubus. Simpler times and terrible music.

Diface

This is fantastic. Haven’t listened to the album in so long.

XTINABE

American McGee's alice returns is better

Pedro Elizondo Jr

Id love one on RBF Turn The Radio Off or Fury of the AquaBats

Randy Record

Oh god I was wrong 🤭. “Earache My Eye” is the worst song ever! 😬

Paul

They are going to love the dubstep stuff they decided to do. I loved nu-metal, although other than the singles I found Korn really bad. Fun fact the first band I ever saw live was the high school band called.... Moist and they opened with 'Bind' On the subject of nu-metal give me Static X, Spineshank, Orgy and Chevelle. I did love the Todd McFarlane stuff also the Pearl Jam 'Do the Evolution' BLEW MY MIND as a teenager, 'IT'S REALLY SAYING SOMETHING'. Great episode chaps.

Luke Jacobs

“Children of the Korn” is the worst in the album. Oh, my freakin’ ears.

Paul

I loved this! I was never a huge Korn fan, but they had a couple of songs that were fine. I remember Jonathan being on the Monk TV show! Maybe do Snapcase next?

Leesha Olivier

oh my gooood gawd. what a treat to start the labor day weekend!!

Darren Orloff

What the fuck, indeed. This was awesome!

AngularBanjo

This episode alone is worth all the cash I paid for this Patreon. 😅

Richard Diaz

🤘!!!

Matt Doenges

This rules, thanks guys. More stuff like this.

Ernest Klingler

I'm so looking forward to listening to this. I was very much into nu metal as a teenager, and this album was definitely high up there for me at the time.

Tony King

OOOOOOMA-HMA-A-OOOOOOMAWEEMAWEEMAP So excited!!! Blasting it directly into my skull right now

Rafael Sarmento

Oh. My. God. You guys should do “Turn the Radio Off” or “ Hello Rockview” as a palate cleanser

Jamie M

Wow...I'm afraid to dive in.

Frank Grimes

I demand to see Eric's Bones McCoy hat!

Felipe Sobreiro

I had no idea this was something I wanted!

Joshua C

You magnificent bastards

Scott Ferris

Appreciate your effort but holy fuck no thanks.

Felix, DJ

The opening song, though! 😅🤣😂
