Animation Damnation - Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
Added 2020-06-18 00:39:40 +0000 UTC
On this month's AD, the gang is chatting about an incredibly outdated (read: racist) episode of the classic show, Scooby Doo, Where Are You? The episode in question, "Mystery Mask Mix-Up," originally aired September 19th, 1970 and features the gang trying to find a stolen mask that Daphne bought from a curio shop. During the course of the investigation, Velma and Fred search for clues, Daphne gets kidnapped, and Shaggy and Scooby pull one absolutely racist stunt that should never have made it to air! PLUS: The gang tries to get to the bottom of invented to "...but this is ridiculous!" joke.

You guys need to cover a short-lived Yogi Bear vehicle called The Galaxy Goof-ups. USA’s Cartoon Express brought back into syndication when I was a kid. The show is pretty stupid overall, but each episode features a segment wherein Yogi and his cohorts visit a bizarre cocaine disco. Made absolutely no sense when I was 6, and I’m still like wtf😂

Yeah, this one isn't great. But I absolutely used to run home from school to watch Scooby. I have watched every iteration of the show, and anything with Scrappy is horrible. The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby Doo was only tolerable because of Vincent Van Ghoul (Vincent Price).

I actually watched this episode to prep for their discussion and holy shit was it bad lol
Thankful I got to see it on a free trial of HBO Max so no money went directly towards that super racist Scooby-Doo episode.

Absolutely, Paul -- all (3) "Measures"-titled films are worthy for future WHM episodes!
BTW, Cabin: the line that Keaton keeps saying in the "Desperate Measures" trailer (as I saw it repeatedly, due to it being delayed 3 times in theaters) is: "My name is Peter McCabe & I. AM. IN. CONTROL!"
Directed by (sigh) Barbet Schroeder, maestro director of "Barfly" & "Reversal of Fortune".
