A Side Order of Sleaze - Don's Plum

On this month's exclusive Sleaze, the gang is chatting about the infamous Hollywood mumblebore film, Don's Plum! It should be said that there was a second title screened for this episode, the absolutely fascinating New York Post documentary, The Curse of Don's Plum. It should also be said that this is of course a bit of a different angle for Sleaze, but hey, we had to put this discussion somewhere!

Both films are currently available in full on YouTube.

Was Leo the bad guy? Was that turd Tobey the maniac who really burned it all down? Was Ethan Suplee the Posse's bodyguard? And why didn't Don kick these scumbags out? PLUS: Beverly Hills' The Pussy Posse clashes with Southie's The Wahlburgers and Kevin Connolly is caught in the middle!

Don's Plum is a movie that definitely does exist and stars, despite their best efforts to kill it, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, along with Kevin Connolly, Scott Bloom, Jenny Lewis, Meadow Sisto, Marissa Ribisi, Amber Benson, Jeremy Sisto, Heather McComb, Ethan Suplee, and Byron Thames as the titular Don; directed by R.D. Robb.

A Side Order of Sleaze is a once-dead WHM bonus feature where  the guys talk about films too trashy for main feed exposure. We decided  to bring this back as a quarantine bonus for you, the loyal Patreon  subscriber! We can't say how long it will last, but for now, let's get  sleazy!

A Side Order of Sleaze - Don's Plum

Comments

Ethan Suplee is now super jacked so he's an even more formidable asset for the Pussy Posse

Mr Sir

If your lookin for a sleaze idea, crazy 70s mercenary film The Wild Geese might make for a good one. Roger Moor makes a dude eat a bag of cocain so you know its good?

Jonathan

That may have been the intention, but it was an utter failure in execution

The Mad Jay Woman

I made roughly the same comment on Twitter, and I got Wheatleyed! Lots of critique for others, none for himself. Wow. Dude, both things can be true - you absolutely got screwed over, but your inability to see your own flaws is insane. At some point you have to self reflect and move on...

The Mad Jay Woman

Guys, how about “Bloodsport” for the next Side Order of Sleaze? It’s available on Netflix.

Paul

so the clip of this on YouTube has a lengthy and very well written break down about this movie. the author explains that what's being portrayed is the unglamorous parts of friendships; that sexist joke that lingers in the air. one of your guy friends sloppily body shaming another friend in the group, the dumb shitty fights about nothing and everyone still trying to figure out which parts of their character they want to hide or show to the world. I am not doing it nearly the justice it deserves nor am I in any position to talk about what this film says about the experience of a woman in America but this person's write up garnered a post from the director himself who, maybe with hindsight bias, agreed with the write-up and seemed very upset that this essential part of the film (how fuckin shitty young adult men can be) was often missed.

Thanks for the quality quarantine content. Just finished the doc - This. was. FASCINATING. Sometimes boys and girls, stories have no heroes. This all stands as a monument to male ego and white boy mediocrity. Would that we could all cruise through life confidently with a garish ponytail and walking stick because our dads invented the Happy Meal... I had heard Maguire was a sloppy stoner back in the day, but had no idea he was basically Rage Shaggy. Also masking his agenda as loyalty to DiCaprio was Machiavellian. For being such a devious shit, he sure doesn’t have much to show for it...

The Mad Jay Woman

Sound quality is distracting. Could barely hear Steve or Eric.

Maggie0401

If you haven't checked it out yet, Eric was recently a guest on the Kill by Kill podcast for that exact movie

Folks, can I request a movie for the next SOOS? It's the oft-requested 10 to Midnight starring Charles Bronson. It might be too gross for the regular feed!

Felipe Sobreiro

Eric, I saw Dale Wheatley tweeted at you when you mentioned the movie, and he did the same thing to me when I watched it a couple of years ago. I tweeted, "Don's Plum...more like Don't Plum. Because it stinks" and he replied a few hours later to say he was sorry I didn't enjoy it, but he thought "Don't Plum" was "fuckin' funny." I was incredibly disarmed by him being so nice about it even though the movie is obviously terrible. I thought there was a point to this story but I guess not - oops!

Forrest Lillibridge

wow this sounds sleazy...it even stars 3 of the pussy posse, with extra sleazeball Tobey..and directed by one. Yeesh
