Animation Damnation - The Jetsons
Added 2020-05-28 01:39:57 +0000 UTC
On this month's AD the gang is chatting about the classic animated sitcom, The Jetsons! The episode in question, "The Little Man," originally aired January 13th, 1963 and features George committing corporate espionage for Mr. Spacely, Elroy losing all respect for his father, and multiple people being shrunk down to a six inches tall! PLUS: It's uh.... GIANT WOMAN!

I would definitely like to see you do Rayman the Animated Series, which is available for free on YouTube. All four episodes...

It was shown in Costa Rica! And to be fair, since theyre in the US, they might want to be feisty and not do it.

Given that you've done Gumby, which has an audience of the US and nowhere else, I think you can make it up to us with a programme that was on in the UK and nowhere else: The Flumps.

This was a formative part of my childhood, and I'd love to see what you make of it.

Fish Police. It is a crap show, but it had Tim Curry, John Ritter, Ed Asner, and, of course, Frank Welker. Plenty of bits to “fish out” in this one.

I would definitely love to see a month of just animated movies - besides the ones you yourselves suggested in the episode, I would also recommend "Cool World." And to tie it in, your WLM for the month could be "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" You've mentioned it enough times as a movie done right that it probably is due for its moment in your spotlight.

Please do Gargoyles for June AD! Season 01 Episode 08 - A very special episode in which a main character gets shot and almost killed in a Disney kids' show!! Also the cast includes tons of Star Trek TNG alum: Frakes, Sirtis, Dorn, and more! Not to mention the sultry Keith David...

You guys gotta do Captain Planet, not sure if you have before but I’d love to hear that! If I can recommend an episode it would be Season 3-Episode 10-Hog Tide.

I personally think you should return to the original Transformers cartoon, but you should do an Optimus Prime focused episode since the previous ones were Prime-lite. You don't get much more Prime-heavy than Season 2, Episode 34: "Prime Target". IMO it's Optimus Prime at his most awesome. It has good action, it's quotable and a truly goofy villain in Lord Chumley, a big game hunter who wants Optimus as his latest trophy. You will never see Prime as pissed is he than when he's dealing with Chumley, not even with Megatron (AKA Robot Stalin). Hope you give my suggestion weight.

Cowboys of Moo-Mesa and the Laverne & Shirley (they’re in the army!) and Fonzie (he’s in space because of a space chick but also appears to be at the Salem witch trials?) are on YouTube. All pretty bonkers.

Ulysses 31, a French/Japanese version of Homer’s Odyssey set in outer space made in the era when Star Wars and disco were the two biggest things on the planet. Best kids cartoon ever and I believe all episodes are on YouTube. The intro and it’s power pop theme song are spectacular.

Scooby doo mystery inc from a few years back. Teenage Fred gets caught looking at a “trap” magazine centerfold as if it’s porn in one of the episodes...it’s literally just a magazine about traps to catch monsters in. Lewis black voices the over arching season 1 villain “Mr. E”, Matthew Lillard back as shaggy. Pretty decent show.

Please do an Animation DamnMONTHion! You can cover a couple of Star Trek Animateds for THE NEXUS, focus on a cartoon character for the GLEEP GLOSSARY and even do some Bakshi (Cool World, Fritz the Cat, there's a bunch) as a SIDE ORDER OF SLEAZE

My sons love Scooby Doo so I seen both of the WWE Scooby Doo crossovers. Steve is right, these guys are not voice actors.
On a bit of a tangent here but there is also a Scooby Doo/KISS cross over that feature and extended music montage of KISS singing Detroit Rock City whole the Scooby gang get into Jack Kirby inspired space ship chase with a big giant head. See the link below.

Great episode guys! If I could suggest just a terrible series that aired in the early 90's, I would suggest The Little Mermaid episode 3: Urchin. It's on Disney + (which is where we found it, thanks to our 4 year-old) and it's got everything you could hope for. From mobsters to phoned in terrible songs to a dad letting his daughter fight crabs without any concern. It's truly terrible in the best way, I feel for whoever had to stick their name on this project.

Does anyone know the name of the Jetson's episode in which George turns a robot at work into an alcoholic and gambling addict? I think the robot was called Uni-Vac or something similar.

All that talk of Vince Mcmann meeting Scooby Doo reminds me of the time Scooby Doo met KISS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scooby-Doo!_and_Kiss:_Rock_and_Roll_Mystery. I would absolutely love to see you review this 'film'. Halfway through it turns into something amazingly psychedelic.

Hey, Guys:
I went through your entire AD catalog & it appears you've never covered "Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers". As the entire series is available on Disney+, I'd like to suggest Ep. 22 from S1: THE CASE OF THE COLA CULT.
Literally, it deals with a cult similar to Scientology. Wholly inappropriate but highly recommended for WHM's AD!!!

I would highly recommend scamper the penguin. It's a Soviet/japanese 80's cartoon that features animal poachers killing a bunch of singing penguins.

You guys did the JETSONS so may I suggest the flintstones season 3 episodes Ventriloquist Barney!
It’s a really funny episode that has such dated humor that I would love to hear you guys pull that apart
And there is such a terrible sexist joke that Barney makes directly to Wilma and she just laughs it had me stunned watching it in 2017

There was this cartoon I watched called C.O.P.S where cops are fighting crime in the future. In one episode called "The Case of the Lowest Crime,” there is a drug dealer named Addictem selling a drug called Crystal Twyst. The main villains end up teaming up with the cops to take down the drug dealer. Here is the Youtube link to the episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtdifpdnCAQ and you can stream the show for free on the Tubi App

I recommend the eye–popping Bravestar episode "The Price." It starts with space miners addicted to "Spin," a drug which makes them see spiders everywhere. It ends with the death of a child at the hands of a drug–dealing dingo. It's like Filmation tried to remake "Panic in Needle Park." You can see it on the official Bravestar Youtube channel, though it's without the opening credits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d2cNArHoKA
