Animation Damnation - "The New Adventures of Gumby"

Packaged this way at least for Amazon streaming in the US, this particular episode cobbles together two shorts: "The Music Ball," which originally aired January 2nd, 1988, and "The Elephant and the Dragon," which first got eyes on it February 6th, 1988.
The two shorts feature insane elements like Gumby being in a band playing prog rock, a screaming chicken, an elephant that sounds like Fred Flintstone, and the horrendously designed character of Goo! PLUS: Pokey, voiced by Nick Nolte, participates in... what's that say? Tijuana donkey shows?

He can change into anything, with his pals Pokey Prickle and Goo, he will walk through the wall if he wanted to. When your sad gumby makes you glad, with all the things he can do. If he’s in your heart then he’ll be a part of you.

The creator themselves said they didn't so he could a blank page for all kids to imprint themselves on the character (on the assumption that kids want to see themselves in their favorite shows). Just dedicate all the time to giving him the verbal beating his parents should have. He is just the most antisocial little turd ever. He fights with his best friend Leo all the time, and even BIT his pre-toddler sister Rosie. This kid's a shit.

2020-04-04 12:56:44 +0000 UTCI grew up on quite a bit of Gumby. The toys, the vhs tapes, and I think I had a copy of that Gumby movie you guys mentioned. And I read that, yes, it had a very limited release in theaters, but I only saw it on vhs. Great episode.
