Episode 474 - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

On this month's patron-requested episode of We Love Movies, the gang fondly looks back at John Hughes' Shermer-to-Chicago hangover movie gem, Ferris Bueller's Day Off! How quickly should Ed Rooney have been arrested? How much of a jerk is Ferris to that parking attendant? And how about that dumb fan theory? PLUS: What kind of a side business is Louie Anderson running dressed up like that ice cream man?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off stars Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara, Alan Ruck, Jeffrey Jones, Jennifer Grey, Edie McClurg, Charlie Sheen, Richard Edson, and Ben Stein; directed by John Hughes.

Thank you so much for continuing to support our We Love Movies endeavor! We could not do this without you and we really love getting to entertain you each and every week here at WHM!

You might say your son has celebrated his birthday NINE TIMES.

This movie is timeless. I showed it to my 9 year old son and he loved it. Thanks for doing this one.

Kevin Carroll

Great episode, guys. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, so regarding the question of which previous episode also featured Bueller's mom Cindy Pickett, oddly enough it's actually both her and dad Lyman Ward playing parents yet again in "Sleepwalkers".

Troy Conner

Is it more or less fine than Beetlejuice? Because I watched that for the first time last year and there were many positives, like seeing Alec Baldwin look like a more than sorta passable actor for the first time in my life, but... some other stuff which has been hinted at on WHM at times

Too soon, must be Biden

Can you guys help me with your archive episodes? I've lost my original email with the link to the first 100 episodes. Why do do you guys hate Babel!?

Thor Lopez

Get on Hiding Out, it's one of the finer movies, that you need to forget that he spends all of it flirting with a child

Ben Stein fronted the "documentary" Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed about how creationists were being discriminated against in Universities &c https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expelled:_No_Intelligence_Allowed

The first time I ever saw this movie was in high school French class ... in French, no subtitles. The scene with Cameron on the phone pretending to be sick was really confusing. I had no idea what the movie was about until years later.

Allison

That dude's life seems bad.

Albert Cammarono

That guy up there was a Bloomberg supporter, you guess?

God damn I did the fake vomit thing so much as a kid lmao i totally forgot about it

I was the audience member in L.A. who brought up "Collision Course" at their live taping of "The Karate Kid" AND NOW Eric's story on ordering it on Pay-Per-View!? The circle is complete between WHM & me! :) BTW: "Say Anything" was released in '89, not '86.
