Added 2020-03-10 01:13:32 +0000 UTC
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR STAR TREK: PICARD [OBVIOUSLY]
On this week's Star Trek: Picard re-cap, the gang is happy as hell to see the return of beloved characters Deanna Troi and Will "Swing That Leg Over The Chair" Riker in episode seven, "Nepenthe." Why does all the action on the ship still seem so disjointed? What's to become of poor Elnor? And why do Troi and Riker allow Kestra to chat with that old weirdo across the lake? PLUS: Step right up and snag a piping hot slice of Papa Riker's bunnicorn sausage pizza! Get it while it's hot!
Making It So is a Star Trek: Picard recap show available exclusively to you, the totally awesome WHM Patreon subscriber! Thanks for your support and enjoy!

I didn’t get why Agnes had a change of heart and disabled the tracer. Anyone have any thoughts? That’s been an issue for me with some of this series - like the guys said. Not enough character development to understand why some characters do what they do.

Alright, for me, the saddest thing about Discovery and Picard is that my mom can't watch them. She started as a fan of the original series well before I was born, and I remember hundreds of times watching her watch TNG after she brought me home from school. She watched TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, AND Enterprise, AND even The Orville. If she wanted I'd love to show her how to figure out an "app" like "CBS All-Access" but she's just never gonna do that. She watched ALL of Almost Human so she would LOVE to watch all of Discovery and even more so Picard! Just sad that Canadians get some of this over the airwaves but my mom who has followed this show since 1966 can't see it because she lives in the US. smh

This episode really does highlight the schism this show has: whether it wants to be the TNG reunion/fanservice show or the new, action show with 1 prior canon character. Chris is right, it's trying to have it both ways and it is killing me because even though I like it more than the crew does, I am coming to the same conclusion of "why is this even a thing?"
It's also the schism that's been happening with alot of scifi/space IP like the recent Star Wars films, Alien/Predator films, Terminator, etc. The producers/writers, studio heads, even fans to a certain degree, really don't know how to satisfy both halves of that so they try to have it both ways and end up making content that is just okay at best to awful at worst.

I'm surprised by the negative comments for this episode. Picard has been uneven at best and these recaps always make me chuckle and tamp down some of my harsher criticisms. Still, when is mandalorian season 2?

In any case, a Star Trek-Star Wars crossover? I say “make it so”.

It feels like the better the episodes get, the less you like them :S this one was great in my opinion...

There's no ESB reference in the episode! Agnes references a "Gormagander" which is an alien space whale from Star Trek: Discovery.

Marina Sirtis's name didn't appear in the credits... why?

Sounds like Andrew’s the only one still all-in on “Picard” (and Steve maybe). Eric’s not into it. He’d rather watch and talk about “T.J. Hooker”. Chris has checked-out after the first episode of “Picard”. The fact that three-out-four of the WHM crew are not into “Picard” is what makes the recaps so hilarious to me.
“Picard” is not a great show, and we can thank the suits at CBS for that. They have to make the show appeal to young people, families, viewers who like sex and romance, non-Star Trek and TNG fans. It’s fan-service but also something new and edgy. I know “Picard” is on CBS All Access, but that is still network TV to me. I had low expectations about “Picard” from the start, cause it’s by C-B-S. In fact, I would never tune in to “Picard” if WHM wasn’t covering it (and I like TNG).

i agree with Andrew's statement that even if it was Everything You Want they'd be complaining anyway because this is We Hate Movies and Chris Cabin is here and this kind of show is a bad fit for the feed. I'm sorry. I'm sorry this just isn't terribly funny, it's just a lot of fucking whining. I love everything else on the Patreon feed but honestly I feel like TV show recaps for entire series are just a weird fit for the WHM cast dynamic

The Riker/Troi scenes were beyond awesome. The playful ribbing Riker gave Picard throughout was great. :( about Hugh though.
