I May Have a Problem. A Tea Problem.

Prior to writing Sky Pride, I wasn't a tea guy. I now have a whole tea brewing setup next to my desk. Currently got some white tea in the jar, but I have a regional sampler selection of raw Pu'Erh teas on order because that is a very normal thing to do. Pu'Erh is what I've been calling Harmony Village Tea in the books because Pu'Erh is the name of the (now) city the tea comes from, and I couldn't find a translation of the name anywhere.

I had a few cups before dinner, out of the rooster cup in the picture. Roughly four sips per cup, maybe? We aren't talking a heroic dose here. I am now more alert than I have been all day, which is a damn shame as it's 10 PM and I only slept about five hours last night. The stories of Pu'Erh being the "Get Things Done" tea are apparently true. That would have been useful to know when I was dragging through the morning. But no. And now I have a whole tea setup three steps from my keyboard.

None of this would be a problem normally, but now that I've fallen into this rabbit hole, I have found that there are traditional clay tea pot that you literally raise like a tea pet, building up layers of tea flavor in the unglazed pots. Naturally, you need to pick one variety of tea and stick with it. Per pot. You may need many pots.

You see how this could get bad.

I got a cheap lidded cup made out of the traditional clay. I'll share it when it arrives. Wish me luck.

PS. The plate they are all sitting on in the picture is something I picked up at a farmers market this summer in Vermont, and I've struggled to find a use for it since. Funny how things can click sometimes.
