Valentine Partner Yoga Workshop PREPARATION

Hey y'all! Super excited for our Naked! Valentine Partner Yoga Live-Stream on Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 AM PST! Please read the following info to prepare for our workshop. I'll post the Access link in a post the day before the event!

IMPORTANT NOTES (PLEASE READ): What are we doing?: This class explores postures designed to help each other deepen stretching, and also make fun, connected shapes (don't worry, there won't be any fancy acro yoga). We'll start with an exercise to connect with each other, a Vinyasa sequence to warm up, then we'll experiment with partnered shapes and stretching postures. I'll have a partner with me to demonstrate, and I'll show you how to give gentle assists to increase flexibility, including different options to meet different flexibility needs. The class will end with a relaxing partnered meditation.

Do we have to be naked?: Nope! I'll be teaching "Naked!" like I always do on Patreon, but either of you can feel free to practice with any amount of clothing. I WILL BE THE ONLY ONE ON CAMERA, so you won't be filmed! Please negotiate clothed/nude preferences amongst yourselves.

Who is this for?: For you, my patrons, to share with your consenting adult quarantine buddy! Due to the pandemic, we ask that you practice this with a partner in your own household, someone with whom you can safely share physical space. This workshop is designed for partners who are very comfortable touching each other (non-sexually), as the assists involve physical contact. Standard rules of consent apply, though, so please skip anything that you don't feel comfortable with (of course). Everyone must be an active, willing participant.

What should we prepare?: We start with a solo warm-up, so it's best to each have your own mat. If you only have one mat, one person could (carefully) practice on the floor or carpet. Definitely have a full-length towel handy to set on the floor next to the mat to create more working space. I also recommend a couple extra full-length towels that can be folded for you to sit on during our seated meditation. If you have blocks and straps, have them nearby in case you need them.

Find a private space with window coverings. Try to make a space enough for two yoga mats to fit together, and I recommend re-arranging things in the space if possible to allow for freedom of movement. Since we're working from home, be mindful of your surroundings: definitely clear the working space of anything that could get bumped, like lamps, plants, and other fragile items. NOTE: The balancing postures can be a bit more tricky with the other person, so you might find it helpful to be near a wall.
