2025-09-19 10:39:53 +0000 UTCYeah, isn't it pretty much Super Bowls and awards shows that get the kind of numbers that this show got back then? I've heard the original plan was for Savage to win back the IC, but Honky didn't like the booking. I saw in a shoot interview where Honky even said that Savage understood that, since Angelo Poffo, Savage's dad, was a promoter and there were no hard feelings between them. So that's when Vince decided to put the world title on Savage instead, which lead to DiBiase getting the newly invented Million Dollar Title, since he was also originally slated to win the tournament at Wrestlemania 4. Interesting the whole Butterfly Effect that one decision had. Probably splitting up Patera and Haynes because of Billy Jack's drug problem after he no showed a tag match at a house show. And for 8000 in 1988, I got 21,846 on the inflation calculator. Does DiBiase defend the title on TV? I only remember him defending it at house shows, 2 of which were televised in Boston and Philadelphia. So will be fun to see the next couple of months of WWF TV.
