Lacrimosa, Alleine zu zweit- Amy’s First Listen And Analysis

A powerful piece of music, with a compelling - and very classical - artistic expression.

Lacrimosa, Alleine zu zweit- Amy’s First Listen And Analysis

Comments

Of all of the offbeat pieces that Amy has featured, this one is my favorite, hands down. Not crazy about the male singer's voice, which oddly makes me think of dramatic actors who can carry a tune and sing in a Broadway musical. Still, I enjoyed it.

Never heard of this band, but I actually really liked it. I agree 100% with your reaction to this song. (I also like hearing the German language in songs)

It's coming!

As far as this song goes, um, when is Led Zeppelin day?

George Brady

Very nice, Danke sehr, Amy. As a German speaker I enjoy hearing it but in America I can't really think of hit songs in German except for '99 Luftballons' by Nena. It was later released in English for even more airplay but the lyrics don't flow as well. Even the magnificent 'Scorpions' sing in English, but I like hearing the German accent of Klaus.

No, it is a deeper song, not upbeat. Powerful in my mind

Similar to (or the same song as) Dance While the Music Still Goes On from the Waterloo album?

Frida Lyngstad, of ABBA, made a Swedish Language album, Djupa andetag (deep breaths), with some magnificent songs. One includes a similar theme of people ending a relationship and having one more dance. I think it is (and the entire album is) much nicer than this song, although I like this song mostly. That entire album is worth listening to. Honestly. The particular song, Sista valsen med dig, means The Last Waltz With You. Great song. I love all the songs on that album. Frida is remarkable.

Um, ok, so instrumentally I enjoyed it. I might need a few months to get used to the voices. The first voice did nothing for me solo. And of course German is not a soft language.

TangoEliott

Enjoy that

In case you want to listen more the them I would personally recommend their old album Elodia, from which Alleine zu zweit was taken I think you'll love altogether.

Thank you Amy, glad you liked it.

Sounds a bit like Where the Wild Roses Grow by Nick Cave
