Good news bad news
Added 2021-08-21 16:01:13 +0000 UTCHi everybody!
Good news first:
We will be moving up to 3 chapters a week from here until the end of the book. The extra chapter will come on Monday, same time as usual. Those of you who've been here awhile will be familiar with the last time I was releasing 3 per week.
Same deal, there will just be an extra one every week, culminating in a 3 chapter weekend release when we reach the end of the book in the first weekend of September.
Bad news:
After Spellheart 7 releases, the series will be going on hiatus, most likely until next year.
While I do have a large portion of Spellheart 8 drafted, Book 7 ends an arc and if I'm going to be leaving the series for any length of time, I want it to be there. Plus, I'm not 100% satisfied with how the next arc is going, and I think having some extra time to think about it will help.
I'm also between jobs right now, and I figure it's either now or never to attempt to take this full time. To do that, I really, really, really need to start more new series'. To that end, I'm switching focus completely to work more on new stuff instead of trying to do it in the background behind the Spellheart series. How much new stuff depends on how well the things I'm launching do.
I'd like to move towards hiring a copyeditor and proofreader, both for new series and for the Spellheart series. Most of my more prolific fellow haremlit authors tell me that's their secret to putting out books so often.
Thing is, that's going to take a higher level of profitability than I'm currently hitting. Ideally, these new series finance getting Spellheart books out faster too (and maybe even drive some new readers to them). We will see.
It might just be one new series if Paladin of the Sword launches well mid-September. If it doesn't then I'll have to start a third (Probably the System Apocalypse one, which I've talked about a bit here) then alternate between those two until I'm financially stable enough to go back to the Spellheart series.
Thanks for understanding and I hope you'll check out my upcoming new series coming out a month from today!
Edit:
One more thing! One of my author friends, Austin Beck, is giving away a signed paperback and sets of fridge magnets for his recent novel, Reborn as a Fire Mage.
Check it out here!

(Between you and me, there's only 5 people in the drawing right now. You have very good odds of winning something, and he wants to get a few more people in the drawing so it looks better. Please check it out!)
And let me know about signed paperbacks and fridge magnets. Is that something you guys want?

Thanks! I hope to bring many new series to you guys! I know I have a stack of ideas that have been building up since before I even started writing the Spellheart series. Heck, I was actually working on another series back when I started Spellheart. It was portal fantasy where a guy discovers he can travel between tiny pocket dimensions, and he traded items between tiny factions of goblins and elves to make an interdimensional mercantile empire. It really deserves to be finished at some point as well, but I tabled it for the Spellheart series. Maybe I'll dig up the manuscript and put it back on the list!

2021-08-21 19:28:33 +0000 UTCWell, I really enjoy Spellheart so I'll be sad to take a break. But you know I enjoy your new stuff, so it's not all bad. Heck, I wouldn't have betad PotS if I wasn't interested. I also love system apocalypse when it's done right. Though I will mention I prefer the regular joe protag who suddenly finds himself himself in a world with magic/cultivation/etc (whether isekaid to it, or it coming to him as system apocalypse) and rises to the challenge and discovers new talents, realises he's much more suited to be a badass in a crisis than the dull life as a sysadmin or whatever he was working at before and grows as the series goes on. As opposed to a situation like with your friend's Fire Mage series where a tough, manly, badass ladykiller is taken to magic land to be.......a tough, manly, badass ladykiller.....with magic and monsters. Virtually nothing has changed for the guy except that he now has magic powers, is fighting monsters and the girls now have animal ears and elf ears. Just doesn't appeal to me. Guy doesn't have be a complete loser, like the pure wish fulfillment japanese isekai novels where the guy is a hikineet waste of space who is isekaied, piled up with cheats and everything magically works out. I just can't really identify with a guy who's already successful and amazing while winning in life, getting sent to magic land to be even more successful and amazing. Well that's just my preference. I hope you do manage to sell the new books and transition to full time author, so you can give writing your full attention. I'm behind you all the way!

2021-08-21 18:54:42 +0000 UTCHeh, first I've got to finally get around to putting the rest of the paperbacks out. All the game elements just mean each book takes quite a bit of formatting and I've been putting them off. Plus, I can't find a way to bring the price of the books down. I'm thinking I might end up doing big 3 book box sets using textbook print. They'll be very dense but they'll be more affordable for collectors and for me to send out signed copies by mail.

2021-08-21 17:33:12 +0000 UTCI think it’s a great plan, and I’m pretty excited about the new series. Wishing you great success!! As for loot, I think many would be interested in a signed copy of one of your books. There’s interesting things I’ve seen other authors do, like have them be a small side character in an upcoming book.. probably high chance of getting killed off somehow.😆 Anyways, best of luck!
