Original Content Roundup #1

For those of you who are interested, I want to post original stuff I make throughout the month in one post every so often. This will include new character designs, written world building, etc.

Since I don't have a lot of time to work on all this, it'll usually be sketches and outlines that are subject to change later down the line. Here's the first batch!

🤠Dinosaur Cowboy World 🦖

The elevator pitch of it is: Maeca is a new kind of mineral with magical properties that can power a new era of inventions, and with it the promise of riches. Together with their dinosaur companions, those brave enough to stake their claim to it travel to the wilderness of the Starfall Territories, a region so named for the frequent meteorites containing maeca deposits that crash down from the skies. The new maecan industry's potential for luxury and riches beckons corruption and thievery as different groups struggle for power while others simply try and make an honest living. It's here in this lawless frontier that our main character, River, gets caught up in a handful of adventures.

The world is populated by humans and demihumans with an animal characteristic part of their anatomy. The guiding principle behind the aesthetic is to embody the typical animals you’d expect to see in Wild West Americana imagery like bovine, small mammals and birds of prey. So far I have three types of folk with loose first drafts of what they look like:

Plainfolk are your standard average human, Oxenfolk are your catch-all for bison, ox and cows, and Halvenfolk parallel small mammals. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if I like the ears on the oxenfolk, I just know I want the aesthetic visual of the cow horns on a cowboy hat.

Anyway, that's all I have for the world for now. As you might have been able to tell, I tend to jump around from project to project to whatever catches my fancy at the time.

✨Sappy Romance OCs 💖

Speaking of, I've been listening to a lot of schmaltzy romance novels while I draw. I made a pair of characters for a theoretical sappy story for my sappy brain to enjoy :)

Joe and RJ are old childhood friends who grew up around the same block. They were each other’s first loves in high school before RJ moved across the country when his parents took up new jobs. Fast forward 10 years, and they’re not the same people they used to be, but a thread of familiarity and old emotions create a spark that pulls them together again all this time later. Their contrasting personalities serve to better each other during this pivotal, malleable point in their lives. RJ is enamored by Joe and his music, finding comfort in its lyrics and realizing that life is more than stress and work. And though Joe is happy where he is, RJ coming back into his life might make him realize he does want more for himself.

Anyway, if you've read all this, thank you! Up next on the docket I want to add a few characters to the dinosaur cowboy world, some characters for Furrows and Fables, and maybe draw some SFW stuff for my ska guys :)
