LITRPG CON wrap up!
Added 2025-07-22 17:31:48 +0000 UTCWell, well, well.
Litrpg con was my first event, my first time travelling to the USA (since I was... 10?) and holy moly, a lot went down.
First off, I have to say a huge thank you to any of you here who came up and said hello, I know there's a few of you. It was awesome to chat to the readers of Chrysalis and Book of the Dead, shake your hand and say thank you in person for the awesome support.
Every panel I was on I was able to call out "for the Colony!" and get a warm response from the readers in the crowd which tickled me right on the aorta.
Met a lot of authors and had the opportunity to chat with them a bit, learn about their own views on writing, on the business side of things (which I have never thought of much, as you all know), and generally have funny interactions and good conversations.
Shoutouts to Haylock of Heretical Fishing. Brilliant chap as always, lovely to speak with and everyone's best friend.
Brian Nordon of Quest Academy. Hilarious man who I instantly connected with. Great guy to chat with, insightful and intelligent things to say when he isn't being absurdly funny.
HUGE shoutout to Benjamin Kerie of Death, Loot and Vampires and Oh Great! I was Reincarnated as a Farmer, who was so, so willing to spend any amount of time speaking to anyone who had questions about writing, publishing, the craft of storytelling and any other aspect of litrpg. The man has a huge reservoir of information and experience and was incredibly generous with it. Doesn't hurt that he's super friendly and just a great person on top of all that.
Of course there are so many more. Jez Cajiao, Rhett and Steve from Aethon, even got the chance to talk to Matt Dinniman briefly, who appears to be the most chill person on the face of the planet Earth, JD Glasscock and many, many more.
I think my biggest takeaway was just what an amazing community has sprung up around this genre. All the fans and readers were so friendly, so supportive that I didn't have a single bad interaction across the whole con. On top of that, all the writers and voice talent were very unpretentious, kind and open to talking and sharing about any aspect of the industry and their own work.
That's a very, very rare thing, in my experience.
Once I get home, it's back to work for me. We've got chapters that need writing, dammit! I'm well aware of exactly what you're owed and you are gonna get it!
There's also the Chrysalis special edition in the works along with merch coming, starting with the Anthony plush that has been long awaited.
A lot going on!
