B5 Chapter 15 - Tyron’s Status
Added 2025-03-17 06:16:31 +0000 UTCSorry for the wait, these always take me ages. I've left a summary of the new abilities at the bottom so you don't have to pick over the status with a tooth-comb
Despite the constant noise around the camp, Tyron was able to sleep well. He’d been reliant on magickally induced sleep for years at this point, using the spell to blanket his conscious mind and sink into a dark and dreamless rest.
The battle continued without him, his untiring wight and demi-lich commanding his minions to hold back the rift-kin who surged through the spatial tear in packs. When he awoke, Tyron could feel the conduits sharpen in his mind. He was still connected to each and every one of his minions through those links formed of magick he’d refined over and over again until they were as solid as steel and didn’t allow a drop of energy to leak, unwilling to entrust the bonds to his smarter undead entirely.
Satisfied that the situation was under control, he turned his mind to the business at hand. No matter where a person was in this realm, they would never be far from a clean sheet of paper, and Tyron was certainly no exception. There was no furniture inside his small tent except the small cot in which he’d slept, so he didn’t have the luxury of even an end-table to rest the page on.
No matter. He took his knife, placed a neat slice in the meat of his thumb and pressed into the clean white page.
Enacting the status ritual from rote memory, his thoughts turned to recent history, and the myriad things that had happened since the fall of Kenmor.
That had been a heady day. The Slayers had rampaged through Kenmor castle, with Tyron using his undead to support the assault, flooding into the tunnels and corridors, chasing down every stray person in the rooms and chambers. Duke Raugrave had put up quite the fight, apparently. By the time Tyron arrived at the scene of the fighting, the man had been torn apart, his remains so crushed they were unusable. Apparently, a blood-drunk swordsman hadn’t been able to hold himself back and destroyed the body in a rage. More disappointing was the lack of a soul. The Five Divines had whisked it away before Tyron could get his hands on it.
Ultimately, it didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. In terms of raw resources, he had emerged from the castle with an embarrassment of riches. High-level soldiers and mages, the Duke’s personal guards and soldiers, the most loyal retainers of the Noble Houses, along with the Nobles themselves.
The blood of The Five had run thick on the ground that day, and Tyron had extracted a measure of vengeance on those responsible for the deaths of Magnin and Beory.
Not that he was satisfied.
What had followed had been harrowing for the people of the Western Province. Before the fires were out, the exodus had begun. Even Tyron had been unwilling to stay, working as quickly as possible to gather all the materials he could before fleeing the destruction that was to come.
The months that followed weren’t something he liked to dwell on. There was no one in the Western Province who better understood the cruelty and callousness of the Empire, yet even he was taken aback by the horror of it.
They’d told everyone to leave, but not all were willing, or able. Many of the elderly and infirm had chosen to end their own lives, rather than fall in the slaughter to come. Of those, some had volunteered to become undead, to at least contribute something in the fight against the Empire.
All told, millions died without making it across the mountains, though some could have fled north, or south into the sands, and possibly survived.
Since then, Tyron had spent his time fighting the kin, helping to establish a place for the survivors in the city. Several times, he’d left the city to check on the Western Province and seek out knowledge.
His undead had killed many, many kin, but the levels had been frustratingly slow to come. Still, if it was easy to achieve platinum rank, his parents wouldn’t have been so special.
Finally, the blood stopped flowing and Tyron was able to shift his grip and check on his status.

It was hard to believe just how far he’d come since first Awakening, and just how quickly as well. The world had been right to fear Necromancers and their capacity for rapid growth. Tyron could fight like an entire army of Slayers and reap all of the experience for himself, though he suspected a portion of it was being leached away to his wights and demi-lich.
Crossing many major thresholds, his raw status was overwhelming. The power invested in him by the Unseen had pushed him beyond superhuman. His physical endurance was greater than most defensive Slayers, rendering him incredibly difficult to harm. Even to conduct this ritual, he’d needed a specially made knife just so it was able to pierce his skin.
His mental attributes towered high over the others. His well of magick was a booming ocean and his command over it unrivaled. His mental defense was now an impenetrable wall, to the extent perhaps even Recillia’s Divine Mandate would not be strong enough to take hold on him.
Bone Mage had proven an inspired choice, giving him a range of offensive spell options that also synergised well with feats he already possessed.
His main Class, Imperator of the Endless Horde, had continued to grow slowly but steadily. His command over the ritual that gave the Class its name was still a work in progress, with several selected options expanding its power and utility. Sadly, he’d only gained a single level since his last performance of the ritual, not enough to earn a new ability, but no matter. Perhaps the assault on the rift would be enough to gain him another.

Comments
Wow, Tyron seems to be pretty strong. How do you manage to keep all of Tyron's abilities in mind when planning the plot? One ability you forget can completely ruin your plans for the story.

2025-03-24 23:52:22 +0000 UTC3 chapters??!! Bless you sir

2025-03-20 01:18:06 +0000 UTCStudents conducting the ritual simple glimpse would be nice fully understandable to skip the meat of those pages just a discussion among the 3 would be nice, as mapping the status choices helps the newer necromancer students. I doubt he will share his status page with his students forget if he ever did

2025-03-17 23:20:41 +0000 UTCno, I like litrpg, I'm just bad at tracking details so it takes a long time for me to try and make sure everything lines up. Usually I get it wrong anyway and have to fix it later.

2025-03-17 20:18:53 +0000 UTCIts literally a ritual you do to ancient gods to reflect on your past deeds and work. Of course it will be a recap.

2025-03-17 13:04:53 +0000 UTCTbh we havent seen his status in a while so it seems necessary

2025-03-17 12:55:35 +0000 UTCIt’s been awhile since we saw his status so it was kind of needed to see what levels he’s gained in the interim.

2025-03-17 12:07:10 +0000 UTCAnd yet if you don't do this, many people will cry to finally see the Status. Damned if you do...

2025-03-17 10:59:08 +0000 UTCThis chapter feels like a recap episode. I am not a fan of them. So soon after the start of the book is even worse.

2025-03-17 10:01:24 +0000 UTCHonestly, I expected Willpower to be higher than his Constitution. He needs it more to deal with his patrons.

2025-03-17 08:29:28 +0000 UTCIs it 75 or 80?

2025-03-17 08:15:03 +0000 UTCI guess you would know

2025-03-17 07:28:59 +0000 UTCAlso the Spell Shaping at profound is crazy. But I'm surprised he got no other mysteries since then. BTW, if Boundless eye of the Imperator is an improvement of Eye of the Emperator, shouldn't the level be higher than 4? Like it should be 14 or 24 depending on the max level of Eye of the Imperator.

2025-03-17 07:19:08 +0000 UTCWhat is the different level breakdown?
Ray Johnson
2025-03-17 07:03:08 +0000 UTCI know for a fact this is going to ruin someone's day if it ever gets to Audible.
Macronomicon
2025-03-17 07:03:07 +0000 UTCI think it’s 9
Rahsheem Reid
2025-03-17 06:56:26 +0000 UTCMaybe at platinum, skills that are maxed out and synergize will be folded into each other to make this list less daunting.
Ibuks5
2025-03-17 06:52:49 +0000 UTCThanks for the chapter! That seems like a reasonable advancement. Ideally he would be platinium before the empire gets here but it might be difficult.
CentaureHeart
2025-03-17 06:52:02 +0000 UTC9 levels
CentaureHeart
2025-03-17 06:49:05 +0000 UTCNo, it’s 20 levels between rank up. 1-20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-80. He needs 9 more levels to get to Platinum.
Grey Knight Lord
2025-03-17 06:47:54 +0000 UTCSo he is 4 levels away from platinum?
