Chapter 482 Experimentation

“Damn, damn, damn. Those are some good skills. I want to see you use Force against my Lightning! I bet it would look phenomenal. Do you think Phaseshift would negate lightning damage entirely? Or an explosion from Claire? Can you displace spells or is that maybe the second tier?” Trian asked.

“I would really consider the Lull of Battle skill. If the second tier gives you a reduced mana cost per spell used, you’d become unstoppable. Not that you aren’t already close,” he continued, murmuring to himself about potential combinations.

Claire looked at Ilea with an apologetic look as she finished her notes.

“The storage ability is useless to you now but what if you can store spells at the second or third tier? Charge your fire beam into it ten times and you can just unleash destruction!” he laughed at the idea, spreading his arms as lighting arced from him into the nearby ground and the two Shadows.

Neither cared about the slight damage.

“Displacement and Storage in higher tiers could mean you can teleport stored spells into other people. Can you imagine that?” Trian continued.

Ilea focused on the Core skill points for a moment, wondering what she could do with them.

Core Skill Points available: 16

[3rd tier Class Skill Point]
[Stat Gain]
[Skill Boost]
[Locked]
[Locked]
[Locked]
[Locked]
[Locked]

Most are locked. What does that mean?

She focused on the individual options instead.

[3rd tier Class Skill Point] – [Advance a Class skill to the third tier – Cost: 1]

Was kind of obvious. So now it’s not linked to specific classes anymore. Not that it matters, my two main ones already have all skills in the third.

[Stat Gain] – [Gain 50 stat points to distribute freely – Cost: 2]

What? For just two points? Or am I missing something?

[Skill Boost] – [Increase the level of a skill. Subdued effects at higher skill levels – Cost: 3]

Costs more than stat gains? That doesn’t make any sense. Why would you use this when you could just level the skills manually. Just takes a bit of time. Or can they level skills beyond 3rd tier 30? I doubt it.

She told everything to Claire, ignoring the incoherent ramblings from Trian, his agitation only increasing with the new information.

“Can you get more info on the locked options?” Claire asked.

Ilea tried but failed to gain anything else.

“There was a mention… when you unlocked the Core skills themselves. You need a locked requirement or an additional Class to unlock the points. Maybe the other locked stuff is linked to that?” Claire said.

She tapped her notebook with her pen and nodded. “Considering the requirements for the third tier classes, I would assume you unlocked them earlier than most people, even at your level, would. Not that we have anything to go on there. As far as I know, you’re the highest leveled human in our records.”

“The Faen Class was the only one with a pre level five hundred requirement,” Ilea said. “You’re right. Or I didn’t level things high enough.”

“You also don’t know yet how these points can be gained. The achievements are quite random. Impressive feats of course but I doubt you could achieve another ten very easily. I suggest you wait until more options are unlocked. The stat and skill boost options are good but what if something much better is waiting?” Claire said.

“Force coupled with Flare of Creation could just decimate whole groups! Or you could just teleport them into your fire spells with Displacement,” Trian said, punching his fist into an open palm. “But then you would have to not choose another skill…,”

“I will use them to advance my third Class skills into the third tier, if that is even possible. Maybe they cap out at level twenty. Which is why I think I shouldn’t choose the Lull of Battle skill,” Ilea said.

“Depends. If you can replace the skills, you could level it up and see what it does. If it’s bad, you can just choose another available skill,” Claire suggested.

Ilea rolled her eyes. “Leveling skills just to look at the second tier? Takes quite a bit of time.”

She wouldn’t consider doing that for the third tier, simply because that required a skill point.

“It’s not like you don’t have the time. Most of them sound well suited for you in one way or the other. Knowing more is crucial for a final decision,” Claire said.

Ilea noted down the available skills into her own notebook.

Active – Flare of Creation – Good bonuses (body enhancement)
Active – Spear of Creation ? not really (burst damage?)
Active – Displacement – versatile – instead of Force? 2nd?
Active – Burst of Creation ? probably shit – no multiplier
Active – Force ? versatile too, potential strong 2nd
Active – Phaseshift ? Fucking awesome – limitations?
Active – Shrouding Cloak ? nope
Active – Blazing Force Shield ? no

Passive – Space Awareness ? mumbo jumbo magic – uncertain benefits – Body Enhancement!
Passive – Space Shift ? Yes, yes. Also yes.
Passive – Dimensional Storage ? maybe? More space? 2nd tier??
Passive – Body of the Valkyrie ? Kind of have to. Goal ? Become indestructible
Passive – Lull of Battle ? uncertain - 2nd tier? Body Enhancement?

The decision really wasn’t easy. She also didn’t know if more skills showed up as she leveled the class. Her main classes were mostly devoid of that at this point. Either because they simply didn’t have any options or because she was so used to the skills, no new ones would make sense, and thus wouldn’t show up.

She had her theories but in the end that was all they were.

“I would suggest you test first if you can freely swap out skills. If that’s the case you could then test all of them individually,” Claire said.

“Good idea,” Trian said, apparently having calmed down by now.

“You’re not rambling anymore,” Ilea said as she looked over the list again.

“Well you’re not doing anything,” he said and summoned a glass of wine, the sight quite something with his plate armor.

“I don’t want to sacrifice an active skill… with my passives it’s probably between Space Awareness, Storage, and Lull of Battle. Let’s see if I can just switch them out as I please,” Ilea said. She selected Space Shift and Body of the Valkyrie as her first two skills, just to make sure they were set.

‘ding’ ‘You have learned the skill: Space Shift – lvl 1

Passive – Space Shift – lvl 1
Space wields easier for you, allowing you to unravel its mysteries. Teleportation abilities can be used again 50% faster [100%] and you can travel 20% farther [40%].
Category: Space magic

‘ding’ ‘You have learned the skill: Body of the Valkyrie – lvl 1

Passive – Body of the Valkyrie – lvl 1
The flame of creation flows through your veins, increasing your resilience by 15% [135%]. Increases your physical damage resistance by 5% [45%]. Increases your magic damage resistance by 5% [45%]. You won’t be fazed anymore by heavy damage or powerful sources of light and sound.
Category: Body enhancement – Space Magic

She felt the difference immediately, her body ever so slightly stronger. A quick few uses of blink revealed the description was on point.

Ilea could now blink close to seventy meters with one use of the skill. She wondered what was faster, her charged wings, that apparently broke the speed of sound, or her newly enhanced Blink used in constant succession.

Never broke the sound barrier… meaning my Wind Resistance did a marvelous job. Could I break through without it? she wondered.

“Did it work?” Trian asked.

“Wait,” Ilea said and selected Space Awareness.

‘ding’ ‘You have learned the skill: Space Awareness – lvl 1

Passive – Space Awareness – lvl 1
You become more aware of the density and shifts in the fabric of Space itself.
Category: Body Enhancement – Perception Aura

Ilea immediately felt something new within her perception. It wasn’t comparable to her sphere or to the change brought by Eyes of Ash but something had been added.

Eerie, the word was the only thing she could think of to describe what essentially looked like wisp like winds of energy. Strands of it came and went, moving in seemingly random patterns. Larger manifestations floated high above, all in a ghostly white color to her eyes, barely visible. Her sphere picked up the new sensation too but it looked essentially the same as to her eyes.

“More than no awareness, I suppose,” she said, looking around. She had no clue what to do with the new information she was getting.

“What do you see?” Claire asked.

Ilea shrugged. “Mist like energy floating around, might not even be energy but something else. It’s thin and barely visible. Can turn it off too,” she said, switching the perception on and off.

“You’re not exactly an esteemed Space Mage. It’s no surprise if you don’t know what you’re looking at,” Trian said.

She nodded and tried to change out the skill to the Lull of Battle one. She simply focused on the slot and her intent.

Available Passive skills for The Faen Valkyrie:

[Dimension Storage]
[Lull of Battle]

‘ding’ ‘Would you like to replace [Space Awareness] with [Lull of Battle]? All accrued skill levels in [Space Awareness] will be lost.

“Seems to work. I just lose all skill levels,” she said.

“It behaves like a normal Class then,” Claire said. “I wonder if it provides stat points,” she added.

Ilea confirmed the switch.

‘ding’ ‘You have learned the skill: Lull of Battle – lvl 1

Passive – Lull of Battle
You are one with war and battle. Less Endurance is needed the longer you fight.
Category: Aura – Body Enhancement

She checked again and found that Space Awareness was available as a skill again.

Hmm. Good thing I didn’t have so many options in my other Classes. That would have required quite a bit of testing.

Sentinel Huntress had redeemed itself in the third tier, becoming one of the main skills to protect those important to her. The few options Kin of Ash provided weren’t worth giving up any of her leveled third tier skills.

“It’s available again, so I guess I’ll level the Lull one for now and see what the second tier does,” Ilea said.

“Do that. Probably easier to level than a dimensional storage skill,” Trian said and laughed. “What about the active skills though? What will you chose?”

Ilea looked through the list again. “I’d go for the Aura, Force, and Phaseshift.”

“Try the others out at least!” Trian said. “The Aura is a must because of your bonuses. The others I’m not so sure about. You should especially consider Displacement and the Spear. Both could be incredible assets in battle.”

Claire chuckled. “I think your choice is good. Force could maybe be replaced with Displacement, depending on how they behave. The latter is probably more offensive.”

Ilea selected the Displacement skill, knowledge about the magic flowing into her and becoming intuition. She tried it out with a nearby stone. It took quite a bit of mana and entirely too much time to make the thing move.

The stone shook and appeared in her hand. She had teleported it.

“This Is pretty amazing,” she said with a smile. Ilea lifted her hand and tried to move Trian.

“I can feel it,” he said, right before he vanished and appeared a few meters farther back.

“Usable,” Claire said.

“Takes too long to affect others. I guess in the third tier it could be quite interesting. Getting people right in front of my fists or making them disappear right before their hits connect,” Ilea said.

“Can you move more than one thing at the same time?” Trian asked. He had a notebook out now too.

Ilea tried but failed to move two stones with one spell.

“That might change later on. What about magic?” he asked and sent a bolt of lightning her way.

Ilea tried but failed to grasp the projectile, the magic dissipating on her armor.

“Hmm… that limits it somewhat. If you level it though… you could move around your enemies the way you want. You could teleport single monsters to you to more easily lure them, depending on the range. Or you could teleport allies to safety?” he suggested.

“The potential is there… definitely,” Ilea murmured.

“Could also work against you, if an enemy knows what you’re doing. Try the Force one,” Trian said as he joined them again.

Ilea added the skill to her active abilities and activated it.

She felt she could focus on a small radius around her, about three meters.

“Oh, I can see it. It looks a little distorted,” Trian said, grabbed a stone and threw it at her.

Ilea’s hand rushed up to catch the flying projectile, barely slowed down by the field of magic.

“Do it again,” she said, throwing the stone back with just as much force.

He caught it and threw it back.

This time she focused on the small rock instead of the whole area around her. It used up a little more mana but the thing slowed down noticeably before it hit her hand.

She lightly threw the stone up and used her Force ability to push it towards Trian.

The rock flew towards him but not nearly as fast as when she had thrown it. She had focused on it again but knew she could use the ability to push against everything around her too.

“Again, two?” Trian asked, holding up the stones.

Ilea focused on them and found she could slow down both.

“I want to try something,” Ilea said. “Hug me, Claire.”

“Okay,” the woman said with a smile, closing her arms around Ilea.

“What did you want to test?” she asked after a few seconds.

“Don’t be mad, ok? You are a good hugger,” Ilea said and used her ability to push back.

Claire’s hold momentarily loosened, the woman pushed back enough for Ilea to blink out.

“I see. And here I thought you liked me,” Claire said in a monotone voice.

“It worked,” Ilea said with a smile.

“Doubt that will be enough to break a monster’s hold,” Claire commented as she brushed off her skirt.

“Not yet,” Trian said and gave Ilea a thumbs up. “Magic?” he asked and sent a few bolts her way.

They did slow down a little but not as significantly as the stones. Neither did Ilea find it as simple to focus on the volatile magic.

“Could be usable in the future. I do have my sphere already to get spells close to me,” she said.

Trian laughed. “You normally Want to get hit instead of stopping spells.”

“I do. If the range increases, which I do think it will, I could protect allies too,” she added.

“Same is true for Displacement. The limitation to one object is likely removed in the later tiers,” the man said.

“Possibly…,” Ilea mused and added Spear of Creation instead of Displacement.

She focused on the spell and found a somewhat lean spear of white fire appear in her right hand. It shined brighter than the flames that had appeared upon her class selection.

“I don’t know how to use this thing,” she admitted, whirling it around a few times.

“Good against defenses. Try me,” Claire said as a few shields appeared in front of her.

She didn’t have to ask twice, the spear immediately breaking through the first layer before scraping against the second.

Ilea wasn’t sure. She stepped closer and used Absolute Destruction against the second barrier, watching as the destructive healing mana ate through three layers in the span of a second.

“Not as fast,” Trian said.

Ilea deactivated the spear. “Maybe, but I’d have to learn how to use a spear. If I could infuse my ash arms.”

“Try the aura then,” Trian said in an excited voice.

“Alright,” Ilea confirmed and switched out the Spear with Flare of Creation.

Instantly upon activation, the pale fire returned, flickering over her ashen armor in a coat of energy.

Her health declined sharply, each second a few hundred points fueling the newfound skill and the power therein. Ilea’s healing activated, mitigating the damage but only barely.

She smirked, hoping the requirements to even use this aura were worth it.

Claire put up several shields again, as if reading her intentions.

One ashen arm clad in moving white flames brushed over the barrier, the fires latching on immediately, breaking through the defenses as if they were made of paper.

Ilea added Storm of Cinders to the mix, watching in fascination as the fire spread into the barriers like the force of an explosion spread underwater.

“Much better than the spear,” Trian said as they watched the defenses break down. “Mana intrusion is the game changer here… the fire of creation flows through your veins

The flame only spread slowly but it didn’t vanish either, continuously eating away at Claire’s magic.

“I’m pushing against it too,” the woman said, a drop of sweat rolling down her brow.

“It eats health, right?” Trian asked. “I don’t think it’s supposed to be kept active for a long time.”

Ilea nodded. “Considering the cost, I don’t think it should be anything but a quick burst. However, my healing cancels it out entirely.”

Claire took a step back as her barriers disintegrated. “I’m not surprised, with all your body enhancement bonuses. Hopefully the cost will be reduced in the second or third tier. Trading regeneration with damage is dangerous.”

Ilea just shrugged. “It’s a balance. Not that I’ve never taken any risks before.” She traded limbs and organs for openings. Now it was just Health itself. The difference was hardly there.

“Someone want to test it on themselves?” she asked, glancing at Trian.

He lifted both hands. “No thanks. Maybe after getting my next evolutions. I don’t want to burn to a crisp.”

“Aw,” Ilea exclaimed, turning off the aura. I wonder how effective it would be against me. Lingering damage to health and mana. Feyrair already dealt high damage. I wonder how he’s doing now. Walter did mention something.

She could use the aura from time to time during battles. A quick test showed that she couldn’t instantly turn it on, it took a second to spread over her full body and ashen extensions. Eh, still usable.

Comments

Ohoho look at all this potential! I love it

Ghornet

My impressions: - Body of the Valkyrie, Space Shift are all numbers and perform as expected. - Flare of Creation is OP and ready to go kill lvl 750s+. Crazy mana intrusion synergy. - Space Awareness needs more testing. With her space magic skills or Claire/Trian's teleports, or the void users in her arena training. - Force's push doesn't scale with INT, so it can't be used offensively. Range is small but that will remedy as it levels. Applications are as expected but the strength of the skill is incredibly weak, will need to scale crazily with skill levels/upgrades to be of any use. - Displacement has high mana cost, cast time, gives targets a tell. All told, it's harder to spam to incapacitate opponents. If it works on yourself, it's basically Blink with a cast time, which is not helpful. Space Shift already fills this role. It'd also be annoying to read, you'd have to constantly pad the word count with Displacement on top of Blink. If it doesn't work on yourself, you could cast it on top of yourself to clear away your surrounding space, getting rid of pin situations (Shredders) and mass magic spam (Sand Elemental/Ascended). Need to test range, vs giant monsters, weapon steal vs high level warriors (Rhyvor's undead knights blocked spatial storage). Ascended's teleport lock and space barriers are a big question mark. - Spear of Creation is in a weird spot. If you're a warrior, it doesn't get Weapon/Body Enhancement bonuses. If you're a mage it doesn't shoot like Ilea's ash lances / your elemental projectile equivalent. Regular hits scale off STR I'm assuming, seems to get nothing from INT. The fire of creation is far more effective in the Flare of Creation buff than in this direct attack skill.

sharkattack

My impressions: Space Shift and Body of the Valkyrie are all numbers and work as expected. Flare of Creation is OP, ready to kill level 750+ monsters right out of the gate. Crazy synergy w/ mana intrusion. Space Awareness needs more testing. With her new space magic skills or Claire/Trian's teleports. Or a void magic user. Force was weaker than expected. Weak slow/push effect, tiny AOE; though the range will be fixed through skill levels. Passive 360° aura that slows all incoming projectiles. Actively focus on target(s) for increased mana cost for stronger effect, can also make a 360° push. Actually works on energy, can potentially bend lightning and lasers later. INT doesn't seem to apply, so no offensive potential scaling atm. Really depends on how well it scales with skill level / upgrades. Displacement is more limited than expected. It has a long cast time and high mana cost. It gives a tell to the target upon casting, behaving similar to void magic. No direct attack component so it doesn't seem to be affected by INT. The cast time probably isn't going anywhere for balance reasons, so you can't chain spam it to confuse or permanently keep enemies at bay or what have you. The tell prevents it from being unavoidable, ala void magic to prevent it from being an OP instant kill magic. Hasn't tested whether it can be cast on herself. If it works, it'd be Blink with a cast time, good luck timing that in high speed combat. Reading that would be annoying too, instead of just using Blink, the word count'd be inflated to constantly mention Displacement. Space Shift already buffs Blink to provides more, instant teleports. If Displacement doesn't work on herself, she can cast it on top of herself to clear the surrounding space, to escape pin situations (Shredders) or massive magic spam (Sand Elemental/Ascended). Still need to figure out its range, test it against giant-sized enemies (lol), whether it preserves momentum (ash sneak attacks), whether it works against high level warrior weapons (undead Rhyvor knights had anti-theft skills that prevented spatial storage). Unknown how it'll fare against the Ascended with its teleport lock and space magic barriers, hopefully something upgrades to counter that. Spear was underwhelming. Doesn't count as a Weapon Enhancement skill, so if you were a warrior picking this skill none of your class bonuses would apply (or would that go under Body Enhancement like Armor of Ash?). If you were a mage picking this, too bad because it can't be launched like Ilea's ash lances / whatever elemental projectile equivalent you have. The fire of creation's special effect of breaking magic defenses pales in comparison to Flare of Creation's effect, which is a buff, compared to this which is a direct attack skill. STR applies to regular attacks with this, but not INT it seems. Could test whether Destruction works through it (unlikely), or how her other abilities stack with it.

sharkattack

Well to me its not a love/hate thing. Its that its the only skill that'll let her get away if she's pinned down like what happened when she faced that Ascended. Which nearly killed her and would've if the Fae hadn't saved her. None of the others will let her do that.

tibbish

Makes you wonder if space awareness would let her perceive the fae

Ben Kontyko

I really hope she chooses [Space Awareness] - its mysterious and intriguing and boosted by her [Sphere of Perception]. Looks like [Flame of Creation] is a definite go if has such high synergy with [Mana Intrusion]. [Lull of Battle] would make sense for a stamina build, but hers is a mana based build and she already recovers stamina via mana

lenkite

"Probably easier to level than a dimensional storage skill" This really sounds like 'Identify' and would be a nightmare to level, *puke The more I think about Lull of Battle the better I think it is. It's all about acclimatizing to a long fight without losing combat ability or focus and it is body enhancement, so I reckon it will provide some sort of mana and stamina recovery the longer she is in combat and the less she has. It might provide some mental boost making it as if she is hyper aware throughout a fight regardless of how long it goes, or fatigue immunity.

The main point of Phaseshift is that it would let Ilea escape grapples, being pinned down by larger monsters, and other situations where her Blink can't be used. Granted most of the other Active Skill options are unfitting build wise or meh in usefulness which is why Phaseshift is pretty much locked in by this point.

Atlas Dwarf

Sadly it would be even better than the actual Spear :(

sharkattack

I have to say, I don't understand the point of phase shift. She has already blinked through solid walls / objects on numerous occasions. The only difference is she can stand in place and have things pass through her a-la Luke Skywalker's projection under bombardment from those AT-AT walkers

Vegetables

I think it would only be good in someone needs imediate power for a life and death unavoidable battle or in someone smh has low stats. The later it gets the more of a waste it gets. You can get 2% more stats but miss out on an extra skill or the next Tier of a skill.

Johannes Sauer

by the way good job author for core skill did not expect this and its keep us salivating with the juicy possibility of the locked use (for now the first 3 is a waste of core for me at this point better keep these point for the juicy option next with how hard is to get them)

Zarik0

1st of june is when he is back with 5 chapters a week.

Torbjørn Nilsen

Do you think it would work for the 3rd class? or only the first two

1 locked way to spend Core points I expect is something akin to : increase number of passive or active skill slots by 1 cost : nb of skill slots in class +1

Phaeth

Does anyone know current schedule/if we're expecting another chapter today

Tentaclour

Does Flare of Creation treat her ash as an extension of her body? If so she can basically have a fake spear of creation by combining flare with her ash tentacles.

Scott

also, if she's going to try them all out and if Blazing Force Shield is solid instead of intangible, I want to see a supersonic shied bash with it.

Scott

Lol, Phaseshift is quite the volatile topic, either you love it or hate it. Doesn't seem to be any in between.

Scott

I see now, although Space Awareness and Displacement are potentially very powerful, Ilea simply lacks the *interest* to make the best use of them. Her perspective is very firmly rooted in herself, so manipulating the environment to control the opponent's options would require a full-on paradigm shift.

Daniel D.

I was thinking the 50 stat points for 2 core points was badass, but realized it's not that great for now. Without even knowing if she gets stat points from her third class, she'd get 50 stats from leveling up 5 times in each of her main classes. Not like she has a hard time leveling. Seems best when someone has hit an absurd leveling plateau and can't get new stats any other way. Definitely with the consensus. Use them for third tier upgrade of skills, save up for the locked options. And there are so many locked options, lord.

Ziggy

Really interested if the core points can unlock the full class if she levels to 400 or so. It would be nice to see if a full powered force pull/Spear of Creation empowered by the enhancement from the third class can make her fucking Darth Vader

Tentaclour

Thanks for the chapter. I guess I'm a Trian. Really hope she can counter other peoples blinks.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter!

Connor Bruha

I read this chapter at 3:30pm lol Hope she takes Flare of Creation, Displacement and Phaseshift for her active skills. She chose the Body of the Valkerie, the Blink upgrade, maybe possible Dissplacement upgrade too, and Lull for Battle as passive. Kinda want her to be able to unlock more skills slots with the core points.

Honestly I think she will take that other space skill again over space shift. Space shift is literally nothing but a flat boost to teleport time and distance whereas the other skills have a ton more potential.

PlasmaticPi

Huh, going with Lull of Battle to see what it evolves into? It's not a bad plan but I just don't think it's worth it over space vision, especially if she wants to explore other dimensions, haha. Edit: and she's funding the construction of a teleportation array, wouldn't she want to see how that one works?

Nate

So, a few thoughts on what we have seen: Displacement seems already able to teleport actual people at level 1, and for actual metres, which is nice. Depending on the focus she needs to do it, this means two things: - auto-win against hostage plots. This is important, because hostage plots sucks. - a lot of fights at high levels are going to be about capatilizing on a specific moment to create a weakness in an enemy. As long as she doesn't need to 'stay stationary and do nothing else', it doesn't matter if it takes a few seconds to teleport a spectre where you want it, the moment they are teleported you can exploit a weakness. Force having low range will get better later. Blink also began with low range. Likewise, the low impact on what it can do will also likely get better. I just don't think it fits her style. Space awareness really need to be tested in a more "Does it do anything against elemental teleport abilities like Claire's blast teleport or Trian's lightning one", as well as "Does it help me use my space abilities better". Spear is way stronger at level 1 than I expected, but not strong enough to justify switching her style even if she can use destruction through it. She has too many bonus to hand to hand know-how to learn a completely knew weapon for the slight bonus to damage. Flare is really damn strong, and fit right in.

Arkeus

What if fire of creation can burn things while she is phase shifted, the "of creation" part implies some special properties. Could she just fly through a monster while starting it on fire from within every measurable unit of thicness...

Adam Roundfield

Ok here goes. I'd definitely get the Phaseshift and Flare of Creation and probably wouldn't swap them, and level up Force to the 2nd tier to see what it has in store. As for the passives, the Space magic boosting one is a must, as is the Body of the Valkyrie, and for the third one I'd level Lull of Battle to see what its 2nd tier is. Very interesting possible combinations for sure. Can't wait to see the upper tiers of the skills.

SoggyBiscuit

Because eventually she’s going to fight something faster and stronger than her that will grapple her, making her unable to teleport. And having phaseshift will save her life when that happens

Matthew D

I seriously don't get why Phaseshift is even being considered. She can already teleport past solid objects and magic, and her entire fighting style is focused on getting close and taking hits while dishing her own out. And with Phaseshift she wouldn't be able to do that cause if she tries to avoid or take a hit using it, she wouldn't be able to attack at the same time cause she would just phase through them. Not to mention, again, she could just teleport to avoid said hit. Overall it basically gives her no useful abilities and directly conflicts with her fighting style.

PlasmaticPi

Ilea the walking supernova.

MountainFox

This makes me happy.

Adam Roundfield

yup i guess im right no need dubious phasesift vs restraint, so go ilea force and displacement combo (need to test more displacement can she tp herself? can she tp people if he is grabed?) (she dont test space awareness when someone blink wtf and space awareness with displacement/force? please)

Zarik0

Or maybe due to the fact it's a third class she will level up extremely slow. I don't think it would be a good idea nonetheless

Julien Fellegara

That's not how it works, the classes gain exp depending on how big an impact they have or how much she uses them. So if she wants to lvl her third class she's probably gonna rely on her attributes and take down something nasty using only skills from her third class and her fists :P

L Pedersen

Thanks for the chapter. Good to know what her new skills will do. Now we just need to find out what the leveling is gonna be. Is her 3 classes gonna split XP evenly or not. If It does her 2 main classes will go from getting 50% of her XP to getting 33%. But her 3rd classes will gain 50 levels the first time she kills something.

Michael scott

Nice, going to love her first battles with those I think. Thanks for the chapter.

Straven

ty for the update :)

fbt

Eh I think it works. Technically the sound barrier isn't really based on speed so much as how quickly you're displacing the fluid you're in and how quickly sound travels through that same fluid. So she won't interact with the sound barrier at all if she isn't causing any shockwave or sound when she moves through the air. Normally that wouldn't be possible but "magic" means she doesn't really move the air with speed so much as the air just pretends she isn't there.

Alexander Dupree

In the immortal words of Dan McNinja, "They can't grab me if I'm on fire."

Bunny Waffles

Is Claire into it? I thought she was solidly heterosexual.

Alexander Dupree

I'm thinking the [Locked] requirement might be to level all class skills to 3rd level 30, or possibly reach level 400.

Cadastral

i liked Trians opinions but he did seem a little bit off, cant properly word it but it felt like he deviated from his personality

Solarlancer

So, which chapter can we expect Ileya to finally ravish Claire?

HighterDK

Awesome chapter. I love that Trian is subbed in for the comments section occasionally. I do feel like it is a pretty strong deviation from the character though. :/

Alexander Dupree

Thank you ! There will be another chapter today?

Julien Fellegara

Would be incredibly if core points could unlock slots for her third class.

Jed Wolfgang

I would think Space Awareness would synergies with her teleport and eventually open up more versatile long range teleportation. Also synergize with force and displacement.

Thank you!

Ahh the Golden Lilly didnt even know what they getting into with trying to get her to join. ILea is now just fucking awesome and she didnt even start leveling. And i love the Core skill point concept. Even more stuff to discover.... I really really really love it!

Blaublue

Glad she can switch them out

PloofDoodle

She should have tested space awareness when using blink or displacement :( Also displacement on herself.

Arkeus

Morzul

Thanks for the chapter!

Just as I leave the house to rollerblade! Oh no. Now I need to wait another half hour to get back home

Woke up at 3:30am to read this. Worth it. I'll be sad if she doesn't pick displacement. That's got to be the most versatile option by a long shot.
