I just got back from 4 much needed days in the Anza Borrego desert. Pretty much the first chance I got after eye surgery. I still have one camera body and one lens left that wasn’t stolen (as I had brought them with me to shoot with Steph and Alan), so I used them to shoot a little bit— the literal first time shooting since LA. That’s how much of a mess this whole thing was. Thanks again to everyone who helped ❤️ will never forget that. I’ve had over $600 in donations which is already enough to replace one of the lenses!
Anyways. The wind followed me there for the first two days 60 mph (see tripod stabilizer) a so I just hid out and waited, managing to do some PT inside the van. Finally it was nice out and I drove my van all over naked and played in the sun. I filmed a bit of video too. Excited to share. And yes I did get the van stuck in the sand and I had to find someone to pull me out but only one time!
I had to come back to San Diego to house sit and then am hoping to head back out after this. I’m getting ready to leave CA as soon it will be warming up everywhere else!
In the meantime, it’s so nice to have walls! And a kitchen! And laundry! For the next week. The constant exposure to elements and people in the van gets exhausting for a highly sensitive person like me, so this is always a nice reprieve. I have a ton of editing to do! I still need to share the waterfall pics with my friends from LA— they’re really amazing. And the rest of Dos Palmos. And more from Joshua Tree (my first stop in CA where I did some naked climbing). And some late night pics I took at the Salton Sea. So lots of fire to come. Then by the time I’ve caught up I’ll have my new lens 😅 perfect.
I’m overall really excited to get back to the east coast and rest, but I also know that natural solitude is medicine and I won’t have as much access back East so even if my body hurts a little I needed to soak up as much as I can get 💛
