Update: Van Crash
Added 2022-02-06 23:29:30 +0000 UTCSo I made it to the Mojave desert of Southern California, finally feelin the fun.... and the worst thing happened as soon as I crossed the CA border. It was late at night, maybe 10 and I was in bum fuck nowhere in the middle of the nature preserve. A cow had escaped a cattle guard and was way out where it wasn’t supposed to be in the middle of the road. I turned the blind corner and it was right there and I tried to swerve and still hit it. He was a big steer with horns. It was all the way awful and heartbreaking. I’m a Colorado native and had never hit an animal before, let alone one of this size.
Took almost two hours for the cops to arrive and a bit longer for animal control. The van isnt totaled but I broke a bunch of glass and ruined paneling. My body and brain and van-house are currently kind of fucked and it’s gonna take a few weeks to get everything back to feeling right again. Gonna build a giant wooden effigy shrine for the cow out here in the desert to burn and cry over tonight and slowly get some repairs taken care of at nearby shops. I was already in a rough spot coming from snow storms in Colorado and was excited for the sun to melt some tensions, so now I’ll just have to mash all of this healing together and be kind to self while it goes. I’ll probably shoot a lot but if my posting to higher tiers is disjointed for a few days, this is why.
