Pixboy Tales in 2023

The long answer to the inevitable question about more Pixboy Tales.

BACK THEN

For two years I have posted my Machinima series for free. This hobby took off during the Covid lockdowns when I had extra time on my hands. While I experimented with Sims 4 Machinimas in late 2019, I started publishing my videos in 2020. It was creative, it was sexy, and I love telling these stories. Yet from the beginning I always said, “If it ever felt like work I would probably stop making them.”

TODAY

My personal and professional life is back to normal and just as busy as before. I no longer have as much free time to devote to Machinimas, and they take a whole lot of time to plan, film, and edit.  Plus, it’s beginning to feel like work. I put pressure on myself to produce regularly when I starting a Patreon subscription. While I really appreciate my Patrons’ support, I knew I would never make a living from Pixboy Tales nor end up quitting my day job. The funds help to pay for new content and video services. From the beginning this project was never about making money. Viewer engagement has always been my currency of choice. I’m always thrilled when someone takes the time to leave a comment. However these days, few comments are left on Twitter or LoversLab, and unfortunately, I have no desire to continue to publish free videos in a vacuum.

MOVING FORWARD

I’m going to take a more leisurely and enjoyable approach to making videos, on average producing only one per month, taking more breaks if needed. Future series and seasons will be shorter. MOST of my new videos will only be available on Patreon. There will no longer be monthly bonus videos. Instead I will be trying something new, experimenting with 3D rendered photo series.

Since I’m changing my creative output I understand if some Patrons decide to downgrade or cancel their subscription. Inflation is hurting everyone. These changes are all about making what is essentially a hobby more manageable, so that I continue to enjoy making Machinimas.

I will be adjusting my Patreon Tiers to match this new format.
