Dev Update #19

Hello Everyone!
I hope you're all having a pleasant day.

Development has been going well. I have been getting a lot done lately. I have almost half of all dialogue/coding for episode 4 done.  And the writing has been coming pretty naturally, and I'm pretty satisfied with it. There will be a lot more plot progression in episode 4 and some of your questions may get answered. We will also meet a few characters that I'm really excited about. I will probably post a preview of one of them in the preview post. All those characters have already been created and are ready to go.

Speaking of creating, I have been busy creating a lot of new things to bring into Ripples. Lots of new assets, maps, and characters will be added in episode 4. I think I have most of everything I need created or ported into HS already. You may have an idea of where this episode might be going, so you can understand I need lots of new assets and maps. There were a lot of assets I had to buy and port over myself because I always have a hard time finding the stuff I want that is already made. So I spent some of that Patreon money and put it back into the game.

I guess I could share some of the development processes and maps while I am here.
After I buy the map assets, I have to import them into Unity and apply texture maps, normal maps, adjust the shininess, and all that other stuff. I won't get into all the technicals, but after I do all that, I then have to add all the little things like decorations items and whatever I need to be in the scene. 


Here I will post some pictures of the process:

This first picture is usually what I have to start with when creating or porting a map into Honey Select. With no textures and very minimal items on the map.


Then I have to add all the textures and different maps and add items if needed. 


Then I package it all up and import it into Honey Select. After some fine-tuning with Render Editor and setting up the lights, you have something like this...


Here's one more map I ported into HS. I will save all other maps and assets for you to see in the game. 


Of course, you can see I omitted some parts of the images to prevent some spoilers, but anyways, I think the maps I'm bringing into HS are pretty nice and will give the scenes that little bit of extra spice and make a better experience in the game.

Now that I have a lot of the assets, characters created, and prep work done, I have been in the StudioNeo on a straight render binge and progress will grow faster and smoother. I currently have around 215 images and 10 animations. The current scene I just started working on is animation-heavy but is one of my favorites of the update. So I'm really looking forward to creating it.

To all the new patrons that recently arrived, thank you so much for supporting me. It really means a lot to me. Maybe if I can get enough support in the future I can add another member to Team Jestur and speed up updates. But that's a big "if", and who knows how this project will grow. We'll examine that in the future if possible.
