This scene was nice enough to intrigue me to try also a VR360 shot.
the main dilemma I have with VR360 (beside the fact that the market is not quite ripe and ready for it, which means I spend precious time on it while I can spend it on creating a "standard" 3D animation which a lot more people would like to experience, but that's an issue for another day...) - is whether I should stick with 2160*2160 in *Stereo*, or go for 4K in mono.
for me, I found out that the sense of depth illusion that stereo gives is worth the loss in resolution, mainly because the devices that plays VR360 can't really show 4k anyways (yet, since you always see only one small part of the images, the resolution do make a different).
why not 4K AND stereo, some of you might ask, and that is a great question. I could say that it will take 3-4 times as long to render, and it will be truth, but I got enough pc power now, and even before I've upgraded - my newest pc could handle it as long as I stuck with very short animation sequences. I actually rendered the first DH in 3840*3840 (stereo mode). the reason I went 2160*2160 is simply because the video editing software, such as premiere which I use, can't output 4k*4k! the max resolution on the Y axis is something around 2160...so here we go.
anyway, this one is on mono, 4k, and its still looks pretty good in V4. check it out! :)
peace <3
