It was kind of discussed last episode, but why do you imagine Xavi has been seemingly reluctant to tinker tactically? I am bit surprised we have not seen 3-4-3 with a double pivot, or something involving Frenkie roaming, or anything to try to help him find his actual place in this side. I understand the nature of fixture congestion and injuries has not helped. I just assumed the knock on Xavi was going to be "too idealistic for his own good", whereas it almost seems as if he is too pragmatic at times.

I really like his profile as a pivot to pair with Frenkie, Pedri(or any of our other interiors), and also his ability to deal with intense pressure and control centrally is ideal. I, in my acknowledged ignorance, imagine him a solid heir to Busquet's pivot. He gives the team a different look down the middle, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Increasingly Busi suffers from the torpor of father time and the result is the other 10 start sleepwalking along to the same languid waltz. All due respect to Mr. Busquets.
