It looks like a showdown...

... between Peter and Paul, but the fight fizzles fast, and then there's a bunch of deep water theology sitting there to unpack.

It looks like a showdown...

Regarding the “sinners” air quotes, I wonder if it would be appropriate to put the "righteous" in Matthew 9 in air quotes as well. I haven't found a translation that does this, but the meaning and usage seems very similar. In other words, we aren't talking about a literal understanding of the words (since all are sinners and none are righteous), but a select group that would call themselves righteous, or who those "righteous" would consider to be "sinners."

070-071 "This" was a "wonderful" discussion I had never known was a "consideration". (Though for some reason I internally connected the "sinners" to "Gentiles" in this passage even though the "KJV" I was using didn't use any special "indicators". ) I checked a couple others I have easily at hand, "HCSB" and "NIV" and "both" of those did use quotes, "double" and 'single' respectively. The "Matthew" account did not have any "indicators" when I checked, "however", though after "this" extended "discussion" about the "air qouotes", it seems very "possible". I'm thoroughly "enjoying" this series. "PS" . I "apologize" for how "unreadable" I made "this" in keeping with the "gag". (I tried to keep it on points of "emphasis" and direct "indication")
