OFFICIAL WHAT ARE WE DOING NEXT DISCUSSION

First, thanks a ton for making this podcast happen. It literally wouldn't and couldn't exist without you.
Second, and in keeping with that first stuff I said, I'd love your input on what we do next, and it matters to me far-and-away the most because you're the most invested in this thing.
I'm super happy with how Matthew went, I loved doing the daily book of the Bible thing (though it was BRUTALLY hard), and I'm profoundly enjoying unpacking Esther in its historical setting (though I fully acknowledge I might have gone a bit too far down the history rabbit hole on the front end).
Let's set aside season two for a second and talk about the two books we've done or are doing now. Matthew is obviously awesome because it's all about Jesus, the Kingdom, and where we fit in all of it. So much Jesus. So good. Esther, on the other hand, is a little different experience. Not so much Jesus, but her story takes us deep into the Old Testament world in the age of the exile, and, as we'll see more and more moving forward, into a bunch of other parts of the Old Testament as well. Esther does a sneaky-great job of setting us up to understand the mentality of the Jewish people and their religious leaders at the time Jesus shows up in Matthew, and even more so, it tell a great story about a great main character that demonstrates God's power and mastery over the ugly and the beautiful parts of the human experience. It's a delight! That said, it's not as smoking-gun obvious and applicable as Matthew was, which is a nice change of pace in my opinion.
Now, however, it's time to start thinking about what's next. A letter from the New Testament? A minor prophet of the Old Testament? A major prophecy book like Daniel, Isaiah, or Revelation? Some wisdom literature? Something else? I have thoughts, but I'm going to withhold them for now so I don't color the conversation here with you.
I'd love to hear what you think we ought to do next, and, just as importantly, why you think that.
Thanks in advance, and I'll be here to engage with all of this with frequency in the coming days, so please check back in regularly.
Huge thanks,
Matt W.
