History Deep-Dive This Week!

Every time we run into moments like this we've got a great opportunity to 1)be reminded that all these events are held out as having happened in a real place at a real time with real people, and 2)to get a deeper sense of what the original audience would have been thinking and how that might factor into Matthew and Jesus' assumptions as the write/speak/act.
This week is EXTRA bonus fun because we're going to get a little whiff of what Roman/Jewish royal court life was like and how the affairs of these upper-crust types bled over into the affairs of the people.
