I don't think it will change anything in Hollywood. If you can't copyright the script of a TV show or movie, that doesn't mean the video itself is not subject to copyright. Sure someone could use that script to make their own "copy" of the show or movie by filming it themselves with their own actors/sets/etc, but they'd still have to spend all the time/money/effort that it took to make the original. Similar with music. If a song is written by AI, the composition would be public domain, but the person who performed it still owns the copyright of their own performance/recording. Though with music it is a lot more common and takes a lot less effort for people to make a cover of a song.

2023-08-26 15:55:49 +0000 UTCMy guess is, remixing, upscaling, recoloring, etc. will not be considered a generative act, about would not have any effect on copyright. If the base material if made with AI, no amount of editing should be able to put the original creation into copyright. We have a lot more court cases to go!
