December Update - Edgar Wright Tier List Progress

Hello!

Thanks to all the new patrons that have joined since the Last of Us Part II video and the reupload of the Scott Pilgrim movie video!

I realised that I forgot to publish my update for November, so hopefully this fairly big update makes up for the missed month! So let’s get into it :)

---

The Edgar Wright Tier List

For those unaware, my next video will be an overview of Edgar Wright’s filmography so far! Specifically, I’ll be diving into the themes he tends to explore in his movies and how he conveys them. He’s one of my favorite directors, and I thought this would be a fun video to do after doing something as depressing as The Last of Us Part II.

I’m 90% done with it! Just gotta add some final touches and do some unlisted uploads to see if YouTube's copyright detection flags my video.

It’s gonna be about 45 minutes long! Which is a pretty impressive length considering how short of a time frame it has been, while I’m still getting used to new editing software and equipment.

Turns out my old workflow with After Effects, while it ended up with a very pretty result, was awful when it came to rendering videos. My computer literally can’t handle my ARTISTIC VISION, and I was basically banging my head against the wall the entire time.

While it did work, it also hurt! Mentally and physically. And thankfully my hand hasn’t hurt once when I was working on either the TLoU:P2 and Edgar Wright video. Drawing, even when avoiding to overwork myself, ended up being a pain due to how demanding my old video style was. So with two videos in the bag, 90% of the future videos will 90% will end up looking like this! And that’s fine by me. Health > Uncompromising artistic vision.

Though this isn’t to say I’ve quit drawing altogether, since I’ve managed to squeeze that skill of mine into my new style (incorporating the monitor beside as a canvas to display my art). Here’s what one of them looks like!

It’s been fun drawing on a vertical canvas since it’s a novel experience for me!

Also, a neat thing about drawing things vertically is that they can easily be used as phone wallpapers! And I’ll be offering all the PNGs as wallpapers for all Patrons! And if you want the Photoshop files of these wallpapers (compatible with Clip Studio Paint), that’ll be for Patrons $5 and higher! So if you're interested in the individual elements of these illustrations, upgrade to the Value Meal tier! But for this video though, I'll be giving out the PSDs of this video to the Tipper tiers as a sweet bonus to give you taste of what my files are like.

Since those files are pretty much done, I might as well share those files with you guys right now! In full resolution and uncompressed! So I hope you enjoy that :)
(It'll include the TLoU P2 files as well since I don't think they sent out properly and no one told me?? Sorry for those who were waiting)

Aside from the behind the scenes stuff, how does the video look so far? Here’s a snippet of the video! It’s a rough cut, so there’s no music or sound effect but this is basically it!

So yeah, that’s that!! Hope you enjoy it once it comes out.
I’m hoping to get it out between December 7-10. But we’ll see how that goes!!

The Next Video

With The Scott Pilgrim Netflix series out, I think my next video will be on that. I love the series the more I think about it, though I do have quite a few nitpicks about the show that I wanna address. Overall, I think the series is a great self reflection of what the comics initially started as, and I wanna give it all the love I possibly can!

And for that video I’ll probably be offering up some SP related commissions to go with it! Since I skipped having commission on the Tier list video, I think this would be a good way to come back to it.

There’s another video I wanna tackle that focuses on the Ari Aster film Midsommer.
A lot of the discourse on that film revolves around it being a break up movie, and that’s great! I think the movie achieves its intended purpose, especially so in the Director's Edition. But what I don’t see discussed enough is the cult aspect of the film.

It won’t be as lengthy as my Scott Pilgrim video, probably around the same length as my Joe Pera video at around 10-15 minutes. And with my visuals and editing becoming more simplified, I wanna try hiring an editor to help me out share the workload.

The issue with my previous style was that it was demanding both mentally and technologically. Which also meant paying editors was in the realm of astronomical values. So by simplifying the process, hopefully this makes getting editors a more realistically attainable experience.

And with my increased speed in workflow, shorter videos like the Joe Pera video can hopefully come out a lot faster too! I’ll be working on both of these scripts and videos in tandem since I think I’ll be able to juggle both of them. Will there be commission slots for the Midsommar video? Probably not for now. Don’t know what I’d offer stylistically with that video, so I’ll only have commissions available for the upcoming Scott PIlgrim video.

TLDR

Next video will be on The Scott Pilgrim Anime series, while I work on a Midsommar video in the background. Commission slots will be available for the Scott Pilgrim video but not the Midsommar one.

And that's it!
Thank you for your time and your support :)
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!

Stay safe and be in good company if possible, thanks!!
