Here's when Google plans to release Android 14 (to AOSP)

When will Android 14 be released? I've gotten this question a LOT from users over the last few months, but it's something I've avoided answering because I didn't want to give out a date that later ended up being wrong.

So as long as you take this date I'm about to share with a pinch of salt, here's when I expect Android 14 to be released: Tuesday, September 5th, 2023. This date was chosen many many months ago, but Google is known to shift dates around a bit when it comes to Android DP/Beta releases, so it could be off by a week. (With the exception of one beta this year, the rest of the dates lined up with what I was told.)

Also, it's important to note that September 5 is the expected date for when Android 14 will be released to AOSP, not when the update will be rolled out to Pixel devices. In the past, the AOSP release and the Pixel updates went out at the same time, but you can no longer assume that to be true.

Of course, once Android 14 is released to AOSP, Google will turn around and start the Android 14 QPR beta program, so September 5 isn't the end of things. I'll have a lot more to talk about once Google releases the first Android 14 QPR1 beta, so stay tuned!
