Bonus: Company Challenge 2025 is out for Patrons!

Conspicuously not a War Room episode... I wrote a script and everything but I'm just not happy with it and, well, I don't make enough use of CM:Pro. So we can have a slightly more futuristic run through our favourite farm complex. This is probably just going to be for Members, so if you're a Supertruppen it's also going to go a little way towards making up for this month's rather lacklustre Bonus video.

This disrupts the old schedule a bit, but I suspect some disruption is in the pipe anyway so we can roll with that.

Anyway: UGVs, Boxers, NLAWs, Javelins and one giant error in transferring the scenario over all make this an interesting watch!

Yes it does. Sadly, playing realtime doesn't generate any kind of replay so it's not clear exactly what happened, but there were definitely two RPGs in quick succession and one definitely got intercepted by APS inside the building with the unfortunate infantry.

Nothing like a minor cluster to get the ball rolling!

It's simultaneously more and less realistic. You can react faster, but only in one place at a time and the lack of a replay cripples your overall situational awareness. For example, if you look carefully you can see the armoured contacts in the background before I realise they're there: I'm either giving some Boxers orders or trying to get one of the UGVs to stay still when it's trying to disengage from the tanks it can see and I haven't noticed.

Drones & RPG-6? Are Ukrainians hitting their northern brethren by dropping HEAT grenades atop armor via drones? What a world, what a world.

Made it to the party while only fashionably late! Interesting video. I see that and think 'science fiction is here.' Wow. It is so far outside my box of experience. I don't know that I even want to go there lol. Give me my RPG-43 dammit! Some observations from the video follow: - WRT UGV being introduce into combat more precipitously, maybe towed into combat behind IFVs? With quick release hitch? - The left flank approach across that large killing field appeared a potentially costly decision. APS turned that assessment entirely around, especially given the unexpected armor appearing. - Watching the UGVs engage, I wonder if drones(air/ground/sea) end up being similar to the skirmishers of ancient pitched battles. You know, nme skirmishers close in to harass your main troops, so you have skirmishers of your own who provide cover by engaging nme skirmishers. They pelt one another for a bit until things get impending and they run to the rear or whatever, followed by the big boys who go at it. - And woohoo! A meeting engagement at the meeting engagement! - The whole real-time thing is daunting for an old guy like me. 1 minute WEGOs FTW. I'm envious of those who can play real-time well, though I've no doubt efficiency/economy/finesse takes a hit when trying to literally do it all on the clock. - Was that entire Brit squad going 'lights out' near the beginning portion of the assault due to friendly mortar fire? I saw the KaBOOM @38:27 and thought that's a helluva Russian man-portable doohickey if not. - Lastly, it may have been the peculiarities of gaming real-time management of the battle that could account for the casualty count on both sides. I have seen other CMPro battle replays that were WEGO and know casualties tend to be higher than WW2 or even ShockForce2, but still.

I’ve never played CM in real time. Does it feel more realistic, since IRL it takes time to issue verbal orders over the radio? Can Pause commands be issued so that units can all jump off at a future appointed time?

Great episode. The accidental “early” counterattack can certainly be chalked up to faulty intelligence (“Intel estimates that it will take at least 30 minutes for the enemy QRF to reach your position.”) Nice to see Hap’s realtime reaction.

Thanks for sharing this, UGV 5 is (not) alive! It's really cool to see a company attack in real time. I've only tried it with small platoon missions and it's tough to keep up with all the game feedback, so I can only imagine how hard this was. It's nice to see the new kit sandbox tested as well. At 36 minutes, there are two explosions that look like they wiped out that section. Does APS friendly fire in Combat Mission?

Tom

Great vid thanks hapless, cool to see the UGVsin action
