September Update
Added 2024-09-13 06:00:15 +0000 UTCHo boy, that was a lot more work than i expected! Spicy Delicious Candy is now completely up and ready for viewing! Both on the discord server AND on my eka's! Again, Patrons get early access but it will be free for all to see after that.
Now, the tricky part has been HOW i'm going to implement the system where you guys choose what will happen to Candy in the next chapter. The current 4 best choices seem to be:
A) a true branching path system
Pros: Nearly endless possibilities
Cons: Slow af, requires voting on EVERY choice
-only 2 choices per poll
-much more polling, extremely short windows the polls will be open.
-requires frequent "Dead End" options, meaning lots of restarting and backtracking
B) A Metered/point system
Pros: Easiest for me to structure
I can offer between 3-6 options on polls.
Better structure, better polling schedules
Cons: Choices could lead to consequences nobody wants if votes are split
C) "chokehold" or re-integrating storylines
Pros: Enables more varied choices each time
-Each "chapter" is more immersive
-Basically Shadow the Hedgehog, the game
Cons: Your votes may feel "superficial"
-Feel less impactful on the overall narrative as a whole, micromanaging
-Dissapointment in "hey, i've already seen this part"
-Less overall narrative paths.

D) freestyle
Pros: Simplest to write
-more flexibility to include random suggestions
-eliminating choices that have already been used prior, less "backtracking"
Cons: lack of structure means more random polling
-possible long droughts between Patron input
-could make people feel "cheated"
