The demogorgon in season 1 that jumped on dr. Brenner was only implied at that time that he may be dead. BUT season 2 he gets brought up on the lost sister episode with Eight when they go after the orderly who helped hurt Elβs mom. He says Brenner is alive. El didnβt believe him. In my opinion I think the demogorgonβs focus was to go after El in the school & that is why it only jumped on and scratched Brenners face, you never know though he could have other marks on parts of his body not showing.
