How often should DevBuilds be made?
Added 2023-01-02 14:09:39 +0000 UTCI'm back from my break now and I've been getting back into Thrive development by going over all the stuff that accumulated while I was away that needs me taking a look. And as mentioned before, I'm now working full time on Thrive. So thank you everyone for your support. This would not be possible otherwise and Thrive would still be much farther away from completion than it already is.
Due to me having a lot more time to work on Thrive now, I think it's about time to ask you dear patrons about a thing I've been thinking about for a while. Now with much more work happening each week there's the potential to make a lot more DevBuilds (and associated Patreon posts) for early look at features. Of course if I'm working on some bigger thing there may not be much point in releasing DevBuilds super often, but when it makes sense how often would you like at most to see updates? I was thinking that maybe twice or three times a week might be good. So there would potentially be updates and DevBuilds out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays if there's enough smaller completed work to be released. This should also help with the problem that the DevBuild notes have been sometimes so long that they don't really fit well in the launcher, which I suspect might happen more often going forward. Though, we'll see if I do controller GUI navigation and organelle upgrade system work, there might not be that humongous amount of small fixes.
There's some extra effort in doing more often builds but I'll try to divide my time up so that doing for example 3 weekly builds results in the same amount of extra work for me as once per week build (so that means that each build would be accompanied by a much shorter text post).
So please let me know how often you'd like to see progress updates at most, updates will be skipped if there's nothing to highlight.
