I couldn’t just stay home knowing Jungkook was suffering. I’ll be alright, I promise. Please don’t worry. I’ll be back soon - xx’

The little note you left them was on top of the dinner table, where it’s been ever since Taehyung found it in your room. It’s been a very stressful couple of days in the Bangtan den, as the six wolves didn’t know what was going on, if you were okay. The pack went through a whirlwind of emotions, that was for damn sure.

Panic. When they woke up and realized the house was too quiet, your vanilla and sakura scent was too faint for you to be home.

Worry. When Taehyung found the note and told the rest of them you had sneaked out to find Jungkook.

Anger. When Namjoon almost broke down the door in an attempt to march to the cabin and drag you back to the den, where it was safe.

Jealousy. When Jimin sneaked out to check on you and Jungkook, watching through the frosted window as the two of you danced in the kitchen, giggling like young kids in love, oblivious to his presence.

Relief. When he told the rest of the pack what he had seen; at least they all knew Jungkook didn’t bite you and you were, in fact, safe and okay.

Sadness. When they thought about what your absence could mean.

The Bangtan den used to be a loud place, something was always happening. Taehyung and Jimin would be running and playing around, Seokjin would be in the kitchen cooking something or in the living room playing video games, Namjoon would be working out in the front yard, Hoseok would be making crafts or laughing at the maknaes antics, Yoongi would be listening to his favorite rap artists on his stereo.

Jungkook should be singing with the karaoke machine, watching movies in the playroom, or roughhousing with the hyungs.

You should be making their lives better by participating in whatever chaotic activity the pack decided to do today, you should be the calm in the middle of their storm.

But for the past two days, all that was heard inside their den was sulking grumbles and pitiful whines.

Taehyung and Jimin would only sit next to each other and stare at the wall for most of the day, Seokjin couldn’t feed his pack anymore, any games he tried to play just annoyed him, Namjoon hardly ever even left his room, Hoseok hadn’t turned back from his wolf form in days, slipping further into his animal ways, Yoongi wasn’t sleeping properly, which made him snippy with the younger members.

Jungkook had won.

You were gone.

It was a pretty clear message for all of them, really. The fact that you chose to sneak out and put yourself at risk like that. After Namjoon explained to you what would happen if Jungkook lost control.

It could only mean what they all feared. You chose Jungkook. You accepted him as your mate. The courting was over.

“Is it supposed to hurt like this?” Taehyung had asked last night, as they all gathered in the living room after dinner.

“I don’t know, Taetae.” Jimin told him as he pulled the younger man into his chest. “We never courted someone else before.”

“It’s not.” Yoongi told them, nail beds red and almost raw from how much he had been nibbling on them. “We like the thrill of the competition, but once it’s done, we shouldn’t be this… Lost.”

Maybe it’s because we haven’t seen her yet? Hoseok tried, whimpering as if he was in great pain. Maybe we just need closure?

“It feels like we lost a mate.” Seokjin chuckled, void of any amusement.

“We didn’t lose a mate.” Namjoon said as he walked past the living room, in the direction of his bedroom. “We can’t be mates with a human.”

Safe to say they never touched on that subject again after that.

It was just after sunset on the third day of you being gone when the five members gathered in the living room again, finding comfort in each other’s presence. Little by little they sat closer to each other. Jimin and Taehyung were a tangle of limbs while Seokjin and Yoongi sat with a cushion of distance in between them both. Hoseok, never afraid of being touchy with his members, laid on the floor, between the two hyungs, and would occasionally lay his head on their knees.

Namjoon, as the hermit he was becoming, was locked in his room and only ever left when he knew he wouldn’t run into the others.

Hoseok was the first to hear you approaching, his wolf ears working better than his members’. The way he jumped to stand on his paws alerted the others of movement outside of the house and they were all staring as the door was pushed open and you walked in, patting yourself from the light rain that had caught you.

They expected to see Jungkook all over you, gloating, happy as can be after having won you over. But you were alone. And you didn’t even smell of the maknae-alpha.

“Oof, the weather really sneaks up on you here.” you giggled, taking off your winter jacket and boots. “Hello? Anybody home?”

Stepping deeper into the house, you saw the beautiful wolf first; fur made of many shades of brown with a few spots of white, pointy ears and alert eyes. Jimin and Tae were cuddling on the couch, as you expected them to be, Seokjin and Yoongi were staring at you with frowns on their beautiful faces. Namjoon was nowhere to be seen.

It was definitely not the reception you were expecting, they looked like they had seen a ghost.

“What’s going on?” you asked, a little meek, waiting for the explosion of complaints, Namjoon yelling you were grounded for disobeying, but nothing came.

“Where’s Kook?” Taehyung was the one to break the silence.

“He’s still at the cabin.” you told the group, walking closer to them to sit on the couch. “He’s well, don’t worry! His rut is almost over.”

“And… You’re here?” Jimin had a frown on his pretty face, sitting up while bringing Tae along.

“I think I am.” you giggled, reaching a hand out to call for Hoseok, who immediately skipped closer to you to let you hug him. “I missed you guys, so I came home a little earlier.”

Hoseok was purring like a cat, so loud that it filled you with butterflies and made your heart skip a beat. You rubbed your cheek against his furry head, aware of the weird looks the others were giving you.

“How did you get Jungkook to let you leave?” Seokjin looked confused, pouty lips red as if he had been nibbling on it.

“I didn’t ask, I just told him I was coming–” you let out a high pitched squeal as Hoseok licked your neck, catching Yoongi’s soft smile.

An alpha letting his mate see other alphas? In the middle of his rut? I never heard that before. Seokjin said, but you knew that question wasn’t aimed at you, so you didn’t reply.

Instead, you kissed the top of Hoseok’s head with a smack and crawled over to the two younger boys, sandwiching Taehyung in between you and Jimin as you laid on top of him. Tae giggled like a young boy, locking you with his legs around your hips. You reached behind him to kiss Jimin’s cheek, then did the same with Tae.

Both boys were chirping happily, each of them choosing a side of your neck to cover with their scent.

Unless. Yoongi started and you couldn’t see him, not with the way Jimin and Taehyung were covering you in kisses, but you could feel the smile on his tone.

“What?” Seokjin asked, although it sounded like he already knew.

Pack omega. Hoseok supplied, and the five boys let out different levels of growling sounds.

You pulled away from the two boys, sitting on your heels as you watched them with amusement. You loved it when they made noises like that, which reminded you of their true nature.

Yoongi was next on the U shaped couch, one side of his lips rising as he called: “Come here, sweetheart.”

Jimin tried to grab for you, to keep you with him and his soulmate, but you got up on wobbly legs and jumped over them to land on the other side. Yoongi tried to look mad, to tell you off for jumping on the furniture, but the moment you sat on his lap, one leg on each side of his hips, he melted.

The platinum-blonde man pulled you closer to him by a hand on your back and you bared your neck for him to scent and kiss, producing small, appreciative noises of your own.

“You don’t smell like Kook.” he noticed.

“I showered before coming back.” you let him know, hands resting on his chest. “Didn’t want you to have to smell his rut on me–”

Clever girl.” Yoongi’s teeth scraped your neck, sending tingles all over you.

“Does that mean you didn’t choose him?” Seokjin asked you, which made you look at him and smile.

“Choose him for what?”

You gave Yoongi a tiny peck on his irresistible, pink lips, and shuffled off his lap so you could sit sideways on Jin’s legs, with one arm around his shoulders.

“The courting, little doe.” Seokjin clarified, pushing your hair away so he could have his go at your neck.

“I haven’t chosen anyone yet, Jinnie.” you told him, biting back a smile as you heard all kinds of groans of relief. “Jungkook was going through something, and I helped him. I’ll help all of you too, when the time comes. If you want me, that is.”

Hoseok barked, which was a sound you had never heard from him before, dramatically falling on his back, tongue out of his mouth as he played dead. You laughed so loud it was very unattractive.

Maybe you were in even more trouble than you thought.

Even though 99% of the pack accepted you back and didn’t give you such a hard time over sneaking out and putting yourself at risk to tend to Jungkook, that 1% was driving you a little crazy.

You had been back to the den for two days, Jungkook was back for one, and you hadn’t seen Namjoon yet.

Well, that was a lie. You did see him, in passing, two times, as he was walking out of his bedroom, saw you were on the way, and turned back without a single hello. At this point you would much prefer he yelled at you, grounded you or punished you for disobeying his orders as pack leader.

This silent treatment was a lot more hurtful and worrying than any good yelling.

“It will pass, pretty girl.” Hoseok’s voice pulled your attention from the door of the playroom, where you had been staring out of. “Joonah can be a little moody sometimes, we have all gotten his silent treatment before.”

“Well, I don’t like it.” you frowned, pulling the collar of the hoodie you were wearing a little higher on your chin.

The piece belonged to Namjoon once, he had gifted it to you really early when you first moved to Dalju with them; back when you didn’t own a lot of clothes, before you even knew what courting was. The scent of walnut was very faint on the fabric, but it was still slightly soothing.

Tonight, to celebrate the end of Jungkook’s triggered rut, and to commemorate the fact that he didn’t mate-mark you and kill you, everyone had gathered in the playroom for game night. Well, everyone but Namjoon.

The invitation had been given to him, Seokjin himself had tried to drag him over to be part of it, but to no avail. Still, you had hoped he’d show up as the night moved on, catching yourself staring at the door more than you watched the pack playing games.

“That’s because you’re our spoiled wolf.” Hoseok leaned closer to you, resting his head on your shoulder as you hugged your legs to your chest.

“You guys keep calling me that.” you forced a smile onto your face, not wanting to worry the others too much with your sulky mood.

“What?” Hobi’s face pulled away from your shoulder as he sat more comfortably against the back of the couch.

Wolf.” you spoke quietly, almost hiding under the huge hoodie. “Little wolf, our wolf, wolf pup… It varies.”

“I thought that’s what you wanted to be, hm?” he teased with that pretty heart shaped smile of his and you tried to hide your blush.

“God, I really missed you.” you shook your head, reaching to kiss his cheek, which only made him giggle harder.

“I’m starting to think Jungkookie wasn’t a good company for you, since you seem to have missed us so much.” Taehyung was saying as he lost a dance battle to Jimin and threw himself on the big couch, head resting on Hobi’s lap.

Jungkook, who was getting ready to duel Jimin on the next round of Just Dance, took great offense to that. “I don’t remember her complaining about our time alone in the cabin.”

The maknae’s tone was suggestive and you couldn’t even look at his face with how flustered the memories made you.

“Yeah, it was so good that she came back a day early.” Tae pushed with a mocking laugh, which earned him a pinch on the side of his hip by Hoseok.

Jungkook was unbothered as he said:

“Keep laughing, but I’m still the only one of you losers that has seen her naked.”

Well, there goes the peaceful night of playing games.

Jimin and Seokjin moved first, forgetting the dance competition and tackling the maknae to the ground. Taehyung joined them next, holding Jungkook’s arms up so the eldest –who sometimes behaved like a five year old– could tickle the poor boy’s ribs and armpits, making him laugh so hard you could see tears in his eyes.

Yoongi was scoffing and throwing complaints to whomever wanted to hear and Hoseok was already doubling in on himself as he cackled.

“Leave him alone, he’s crying–” you tried to defend Jungkook, even if you were laughing almost as much as Hoseok was. “Three against one is not fair!”

“She’s right, it’s not fair.” Seokjin agreed, momentarily pausing his attack. “Jiminah, go get her.”

“What?!”

You yelled when Jimin crawled in your direction, so fast it felt like he was in wolf form. You knew you had no chance against his super speed, but you still tried, jumping off the couch to run away as you yelled at him to stop.

Yoongi was laying with his back on the floor, full gums out, holding his tummy from how much he was laughing, Hoseok had more tears in his eyes than Jungkook did.

Jimin leaped in front of you out of nowhere and you yelled at the fright. Things happened fast after that and a second later you were laying on the floor, by the foot of the couch, as Jimin held your legs down with his surprisingly strong thighs and used his little fingers to tickle you.

You were squealing and trying to bat his hands away, barely seeing anything as tears clouded your vision.

What the hell is all this noise?! Namjoon’s voice bloomed inside your head, as well as the rest of the pack’s, completely freezing all of you in place.

You wiped your eyes in the sleeves of your hoodie, pushing Jimin away so you could sit up and look at the leader standing in the door of the playroom.

“Joon–” you tried, but he didn’t look at you.

In fact, he interrupted you as he said:

“Keep it down, all of you.” before turning his back and walking away.

Comments

Little Wolf has some work to do to earn Joon’s trust back I think. I’m glad she was there for Kookie though.

SomeShineSomeDon’t

I don't blame Namjoon for being upset with oc. She had disobeyed his orders and went on ahead and helped jungkook. She believed she was doing the right thing, but she should have known that her actions will have consequences. She knew the pack would be upset. I was actually hoping the pack continue being upset with her because lowkey I feel like she thinks she can get away with anything if she thinks she is in the right. I'm glad that Namjoon is not letting her off the hook and I hope that he has a serious conversation with her and that oc understands that she just can't do things on her own without consulting the others. Either way, great chapter! I can't wait to see what happens next!!
