It's such a love letter to all who love the game that saved video games, and given how much Gwen loves video games, you can see how she, too, would be a fan. The movie really has so much: Donkey Kong, 2-D platforming, Mario Kart racing (and the infamous Blue Shell), power-ups, including the Tanooki suit, Mario & Luigi working hand in hand — heck, the movie even has a nuke scene in the form of Banzai Bill!
