Stellar Incognita Factions - The Sol Unity

I thought I'd take the time to try and detail some of the lore that makes the basis for the Stellar Incognita universe. The Sol Unity is the main government of humanity and one that Sagacious-6 encounters many times throughout his adventures as you play through the widely branching story paths.

Centered around Earth and governed by the super A.I. "Gaia", the Sol Unity inhabits the Milky Way in an area called the "Unity Proper". Here, Gaia controls and manages all major decisions on the military and the economy through her "neural net", which connects all cyber-systems to her A.I. consciousness.  Permission is required to reproduce, religion is suppressed, career paths are chosen through calculated aptitudes and scientific advancement is strictly regulated. However, it can be said that humanity is otherwise free to live how they choose under Gaia's rule and all their material needs are provided for. Some have described it as a gilded cage.

An especially unique "Prior Way" allows human ships to travel through a kind of sub-space to reach an entirely new galaxy in the space of an Earth day. This is the "Stellar Incognita", where Gaia's neural net cannot reach. Here, centered around a massive stabilized gate called the "Prior Eye", the Sol Unity have set up a human-run administration and have begun to colonize star systems. It is based out of a large space port called "Access Hub", which acts as an administrative capital that sends and receives an endless flow of data drones from the Unity Proper as an imperfect way of connecting to the neural net of GAIA. However, the Sol Unity competes against a whole range of human splinter groups that have also forced their way through.

The presence of Sol Unity military forces in the Stellar Incognita is actually very small. The Sol Unity has highly trained marines and pilot "Starbolts", which are considered the most advanced fighters any human faction has. Since large capital ships cannot make it through the Prior Way to reach the Stellar Incognita (they break up under the strain of the jump), the modest industrial capacity of the Sol Unity in the Stellar Incognita is building a heavy cruiser called the "Harmonic Convergence" which they hope will help to pacify known space in this distant galaxy.
