Path of Exile nonsense addressed

On the WSGF Discord, a user reported that today's update to the game caused it to have black bars at anything wider than the exact ratio of 21:9, just like Death Stranding or similar to Diablo 2 Resurrected. I understand that the developers of this game have always wanted it to be a Diablo successor, and they did a great job at it, but what's with copying its limitations now? The game came out in 2012 and fully in 2013, and has had great ultrawide support but suddenly it's an issue?
Well, from my perspective, the only issue is their misguided attitude.
P.S. This is not the upcoming juicy post I had promised but it's just as good, isn't it?
