How the community reflects on me
Added 2022-08-05 13:51:46 +0000 UTCIt used to be that I could tolerate black bars at cutscenes but after I began to publish my mods, there were requests upon requests for mods specifically aimed at removing black bars from the cutscenes.
As time went on and as I kept removing the black bars again and again, I often caught myself having a much harder time tolerating any.
Another thing I noticed is that when I may have a straight path to fixing a game just for my resolution or aspect ratio but it's not universal and it wouldn't work for another sizeable group of ultrawide users, again I have a hard time pushing myself to play the game.
For example, I've been reluctant to wishlist or buy Disco Elysium after having looked into it and found no reasonably actionable path to 32:9 support (or 21:9 support before it was native). Similarly, I've been reluctant to play The Ascent after I discovered the flaws in my solution at 32:9 after the game got native 21:9 support. Now I'm looking at a game where I can just change one of the hardcoded resolutions to meet my personal need, but until I have a universal (or a less limited) solution, I don't see myself stopping at that.

Thank you once again for your words of support and for being around! It's definitely a struggle and it doesn't help that life has been even more of a struggle for the last couple of months. I even had to drop a certain project I'd been working on despite believing in it and having invested in it, but I still try to stay busy and create solutions at the same rate as before, if not more frequently. Despite any setbacks, it feels like the first half of this year was great for the ultrawide and wider community, but I'm thinking of talking more about it at the end of this year! For the immediate future, there are still more mods to be created and hopefully improvements to be made to WSGF.org (I have a long list of plans for it!).

2022-08-19 21:12:26 +0000 UTCYou've given us so much that no one can demand more from you than what you've already been giving us. I wish I could say something smart or witty to support and motivate you, but I can ask that you don't let yourself burn out. That's worse than finding any flaw in your 32:9 solutions, IMHO. Live to fight another day, because this "war" is going to be long-lasting unfortunately, and we need every single one of our champions.
