Saints Row: The Third Remastered letterbox remover
Added 2021-11-10 14:25:43 +0000 UTCA while back as I ran the Assignments system for PCGamingWiki, we had a user assigned to cover this game, which resulted in a note on its cutscenes being vert- at 21:9.
Fast forward to yesterday, and a WSGF request appeared, asking for a solution. I now owned the game, so I thought it would be worth looking into.
I don't think the game is on any known engine, yet it didn't take too long for me to come up with a way to remove the letterboxing causing the cropping effect at 21:9 and wider. It may also benefit 16:9 users who would like to see more for the first time.
You may notice that the patcher is my first file in a long time to not be hosted by PCGW, which is because I left the platform due to its poor moderation practices and not being heard on multiple issues, which included the intentional placement of fake download button ads on the way to my files. Personally, I use uBlock Origin, but I know that many people do not, and I would rather not have them be put at risk.
