There was a request for a 32:9 solution for this game I happened to have access to through the account officially provided to PCGamingWiki by GOG.
For the past days, I've been putting many hours into trying to reliably remove the black bars without major issues. As it stands now, I believe I can force the game FOV to expand horizontally to fill the screen width, but the screen effects that look like shaders are limited to 16:9 and anchored to the left. Now if I confirm that they are indeed pre-made textures, at best I would have to play through the game to encounter each one, hunt them down, then rewrite their code to stretch them, which would be a huge undertaking for one game released years ago, thus not being in demand.
I'll keep trying but this goes to illustrate that although every game can be hacked, sometimes it's more productive to invest time in other titles.
