Vagabonds Chapter 10

Merida (or Merrick as her disguise is), as we’ve established, has been raised sheltered and doesn’t really understand the most polite way to say things. Thax, in his experience in dealing with discrimination, aims to ignore his charge because that’s how he was raised.
That was a mindset I learned from a friend I lost in highschool. The long and short of it is I said something incredibly hurtful, and the entire class got up on it during a class trip. When I asked him why he didn’t ask people to stop, he just smiled with anger and disappointment in his eyes and told me that there was no point. Better to ignore it and move on. I ended up begging my class to stop calling him by that, and explained his reasoning. They stopped, but I don’t think I ever mended that friendship.
That event I think is to blame for my views on discrimination and I try to express it in stories. I don’t know if that came across well here, but it’s something I like to explore.
Also there’s action. Finally some action in this space fantasy story with lasers and stuff!
