It's the most wonderful time of the year

Blog post rant time!! 

Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on what's going, Pride part 2, plans for the holidays, and say thanks to everyone who signed up to the Patreon after the Pride vid dropped!

Firstly, I appreciate all of you guys for signing up, and there 4 new patrons who jumped on in the last week, so thank you again. From my first attempts at making a video ("The Greatest fight you never saw" - The video about the grappling match between Haisam Rida & Geo Martinez) i never expected anyone to enjoy them enough to want to contribute financially, (especially as those first videos were fuckin ROUGH!! Think i literally recorded that first video with my Mic facing the wrong way and i wrote the "script" in about 20 minutes 😂), but i am still blown away by you guys chip in a dollar or two. The ratio of Subscribers to Patrons is only a tiny %age, even for big channels, so consider yourselves mythical once ever in human history people. 

Even more amazingly, one of you, (who i wont name for fear of getting you swamped with pleas for help), really went all out and donated a large amount of money to help build a new computer for making these videos. And that's beyond anything i ever imagined when i started making these videos. The generosity of some people is stunning, and at a time when the world can feel like a Dante-meets-Bosch living hellscape, to know there are amazing people out there like that really can reaffirm your faith in humanity.

The Pride video is doing relatively well, it had 20K views in a week, which again by comparison to larger channels is fucking nothing, but it's pretty good for me. And the reception has been almost entirely positive which was a relief. Honestly, without any false modesty, i was genuinely worried people would not enjoy this one, as while it has humour in it, its definitely a little bit more serious than the others. 

I had hoped the video would be good enough for old hardcore fans and new fans alike to enjoy, and thank fully that seems to be the case, as the analytics show traffic from sites like Sherdog and reddit MMA, but there's also lots of comments form people saying the knew very little about Pride or that era but loved the video. 

Funnily enough, as the views for Pride started to trail off, views for the Fake martial arts video began to go up, and up, and are still going up now! It's far and away the most successful one I've done, so once the Pride saga is finished, I'll be getting back to part 2 of that (and if you've suggestions for fake martial artists to cover, let me know!)

So work will continue on part 2, i already had easily another 20-30 minutes of script written before i decided to make it a 2 (or 3) parter, so i just need to take that existing script and get cracking. At the moment I'm taking a week or two break, as I'm always a bit wiped by the time a video is done. But with the Christmas break coming up it means that work will slow down a bit, and sadly we just had a death on my Wife's side of the Family which has kind of blown things up here so ill need to help out as much as i can. So if things go quiet on the channel for a while, please know that I'm still alive, and Part 2 is definitely coming 😂

Until then, i guess you could always binge on the bullshit buffet that is Triller fight club, i mean they're putting on a Banquet of combat sports so stunningly terrible that Caligula himself would probably find it distasteful. Lets see, we had Frank Mir fighting in a fucking triangle, the bloated corpse of Rampage Jackson vs some guy who looks like he'd sell you crack, and then Jake Paul vs Tommy Furey. It really is deeply, deeply depressing.

However if you don't mind watching fights without commentary, Rizin have some bangers on their youtube channel from their recent events. Including this, an MMA fight in 20fucking21, of a guy in a Gi vs a guy who clearly isn't in a Gi 😂Glad to see Rizin keeping the Pride freakshow spirit alive
