A heads up: I'm struggling with terrible back pain and some kind of neuropathy/parasthesia in my left shoulder, arm and hand. If this sounds vague and not like an official diagnosis, that's because it is. I've been to the doctor, and and in fact to the ER, and even, out of desperation, to a chiropractor, over a period of months and not been taken terribly seriously. Meanwhile, it's all continued to get worse. My left hand just feels permanently asleep, while my back just hurts, terribly, if I try to sit most ways for any length of time. Tuesday I have an appointment, finally, with a neurologist, but I'm kind of dreading it. Wish me luck, and know that if I'm not doing my best work right now, this is why.

I think seeing the neurologist is the best course of action. I agree that your symptoms scream pinched nerve. My partner had pinched nerves in her lower back and I know how utterly life stopping it can be. Take care of yourself!
