I believe you can get Japanese translation of your German drivers license IN JAPAN at JAF or before: https://kart.st/en/drivers-license/germany.amp.html that seems legal and accepted but you should follow up on this.

2024-06-23 11:12:22 +0000 UTCStayed in Minakami in 2019 in Ryokan Micasa. It was layedback and relaxing. Just FYI: There is a craft brewery (Octone), and there is a bus to Takaragawa Onsen. It was good to see the place again after so many years. Maybe I will revisit it this year. Then I will also visit Doai Station. -- I used the Shinkansen to Jomokogen and then the bus to get there (back in 2019 there was an intersting bus pass available), since my German drivers license is not valid in Japan.
