Eric Dagley's Redridge Express Thumbnails
Added 2014-09-06 01:29:42 +0000 UTCThe inimitable Eric Dagley did the covers for NTOs #3 and 5 and is back again at my humble request to sell #6 (the print version is running incredibly late; sorry) with another of his reliably awesome, refreshingly non-literal covers. He is truly the cut rate James Jean to my low rent webcomic Fables, but like me, he's got to start somewhere with his concepts. Earlier this week he sent me these rough thumbnails. Generally I choose the one he develops -- the standard illustrator/client arrangement -- but this time I'm letting Eric choose, operating under the assumption he's going to come through with a better product if he's more vested/interested in what he's doing. I do some freelance illustration myself, and there is no bummer like trying to focus on fleshing out some throwaway concept you're really not feeling. I wonder if you guys would choose the same cover for #6 that Eric (or I) did? You'll find out when Eric wraps the final cover -- I'll share it here first.
