AUG 27: Japan Post has updated International Mail 📦

Australia 🇦🇺 🦘 so I can send post cards by — SHIP 🚢 but still no airmail. I’m on the fence about what to do. If you’re an Aussie, would you prefer I hold on to the postcards for airmail or send by ship ASAP. Note: North Korea was accepting airmail and Australia was not until this week 🤦🏻‍♂️

It could change in September ... could ...

No, there is no airmail at all. No SAL, Small Packet, EMS, First Class. Only surface. Australia is okay to send it from Oz to JP but not receive it from Japan right now. That’s what I heard. Small Packet rates exist in Japan for parcels under 2kg.

Is it via SAL? Because they had size and weight limits to send to Aus prior to all of these shutdowns. I couldn’t send a 4kg box because it was under the weight limit.

BlueSkyeDays

Actually there have been 3 packages 📦 sent. July, August and the first catch up box.

7-12 weeks they told me.

Hey John I’m happy for Okapi to keep guarding my postcards until they can fly. I know you sent me 1 of my Daimyo packages by boat on July 20, so that’s 6 weeks and counting...

Japan Man

That is quite odd that there currently is no airmail yet. Personally I'd rather wait until the option for airmail is available again as it's more convenient and easier to keep track of.

Thunderbeard

Now I see why you're on the fence.

I have postcards for Australia from April - 5 months.

ONLY in JAPAN

I don’t know for sure. Rather than days, ship deals in weeks. 7-12 weeks? Sometimes 5-7 weeks. Could be more ... but it does arrive.

ONLY in JAPAN

That's so odd Japan/Australia has no airmail still. Silly considering I ordered something from HK and got my parcel within a week. Anyhu back to the original question. Could you please just hold my postcards until the ban is lifted. Thank you John

Eri Leech

Hi John I’m in Australia and part of the postcard club. I’m fine with trying out delivery by seamail. Really appreciate that you are holding onto the postcards until an option became available. Regards Joanne

How long by ship again, John?
