Thanks James, but I wasn’t sure if it had all been converted so didn’t want to speak too much on it. I have to check myself on going down verbals roads where I don’t know for sure. “Shinkansen trains run on two different gauges, 1,067mm and 1,435mm, which precludes each part of the system from using the other’s trains. However, many of the narrower gauge routes are to be converted to 1,435mm, and JR East finished the conversion of its Yamagata-Shinjo route in December 1999.”

2020-01-08 04:48:44 +0000 UTCokay john, you should know that the shinkansen uses standard gauge track (4ft 81/2 in), everything else is different about shinkansen track, but the gauge is still stamdard.
